I'm almost finished reading The Ageless Warrior by Mike Fitzgerald. Very good book!
Anyway, I've seen a couple of Archie's older fights, most notably, his bout with Marciano. Does anyone know what Moore fights are available on DVD that are typically of good quality? Are there any Moore fans here who've seen a lot of his fights. Having read this book, I'm definately interested in getting my hands on as many Moore fights as possible so any help would be appreciated. I'm especially interested in seeing his first bout with Yvon Durelle, and am hoping that fight is easily accessible somehow. Please let me know. Many thanks in advance! Also, of course, I'd welcome any and all discussion regarding this extraordinary pugilist. |

Moore's first fight with Durelle is a great one, and easily accessible. I have it on my computer (not this one) but unfortunately it's completely fucked - maybe someone else will upload it for you. His rematch is good, too, and an amazing performance for such an old boxer. The fifth Harold Johnson fight exists in good quality as does Moore's title-winning effort against Joey Maxim. You will find various others in poor-to-decent quality such as Patterson, Richards II, Davidson, Parker, Pompey, Rinaldi II, Clay, Bivins V, Olson, Smith IV and of course, Marciano.

The one I'm definately most interested in seeing is the first Durelle fight. Are you familiar with the tale from that one about Archie waving to his wife? Funny stuff! Thanks! I need to find these fights...I haven't been in the habbit of usually uploading fights onto my computer, but I may change my tune... |

I don't remember anything about his wife... Or do I? I can't remember. I have the book though, it's a good read. You will like Moore's post-fight interview in the ring, he's very gracious. He makes sure to congratulate Durelle, thank the crowd and say hello to a sick child he met before the fight. A great man all-around, not just in the ring.

Archie thought he was waving at his wife, but of course, he was actually waving at his opponent. Durelle admitted after the fight that it took his heart away, for Archie was looking at him as if he were having the greatest time in his life.
