I agree but overall Ali ranks higher when you factor in accomplishments.

Mike Tyson in his prime was probably the closest thing to unbeatable as your going to find. His skill and precision were just incredible. Name me one other heavyweight who had the combination of power, speed, athleticism and raw talent that Tyson had? This is why he will always be remembered as an ATG, and easily as the most exciting & talented HW to ever step into the ring.

You must have missed his fight against Brian Nielsen then! Nielsen entered the ring to the tones of "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" from "Life Of Brian", looking like he was going to the pub to have a pleasant evening with his buddies - hilarious!

He sits on the cusp of ATG status, but just falls short, not really for anything he did or didn't do, just because there are others out there who did more and deserve it more.

Posts like this give me GOOSE BUMPS! I love TYSON FANS..and I agree with you 100% , tyson in his prime ,i.e.in the late 80's would have just about beaten any great heavyweight..You watch him train with Cuz D'mato , and the way he moves with such speed inside the ring, you'd think the guy was a destructive Terminator..It really impresses me the way he trained and sparred,as for the Buster Douglas fight, Tyson did actually win that fight, however the referree was too damn slow to the damn count...

tyson surely was good, but his dominance was caused by lack of quality opposition. of course pinklon thomas, tucker and tubbs were good fighters but they sure aren't in the lewis-holyfield league. holyfield might have won an ud against tyson and lewis might have outboxed him as well. holmes was old and spinks wasn't a real heavyweight. so he was good, but how good he really was we will never know.

Indeed , Mikes prime was interrupted just like some of Alis best years were lost before he came back to beat Quarry in Atlanta.. Mike in 1992 after beating Ruddock for the second time may have beat Holyfield .. who knows??

But he was more poised to ambush Holyfield at that time..

Fighters can change overnight.. Once Tyson beat Ruddock in that second bout, we saw the last of Mike in his absolute prime..

The Tyson that battered Alex Stewart in AC would have been a handful for most heavyweights through history...

When will Tyson lovers let this go? Buster was clearly waiting for the ref to get to 8 in the count to get up, as all boxers are trained to do, and if you watch the tape he was able to get up at 8 even if you start the count the instant he touches the ground (which rarely happens, despite how the rule is written)

the whole buster winning ordeal was like the lining of the planets an upset like that wont happen 4 a while. Tyson clearly wasnt him self. wether your a tyson fan or not u know that tyson was alot more elusive than that b4. he didnt have the same head movement. he also didnt have kevin rooney. he style was starting to change. He partied and didnt train as hard as usual. Buster on the other hand, who usaully showd up 2 fite overweight and without spirit, lost his mother shortly before this fight and he now had a reason to win, he was motivated. he trained hard and studied tyson. fortunately for him the tyson that showed up wasnt as bad as he thought. if all this didnt happen tyson wouldve won easy

Tyson is the best fighter from 85-89. He won a world title in less than two years as a pro and unified inside of 4 years. Not a bad accomplishment at all. ATG I rank him in the top 15. Somewhere between 12-15.

Tyson won 10 title fights before being ko'd by Douglas. He only defended as Undisiputed champ 6 times.
If you're saying title defenses should determine who the greatest of all time then it should be Louis followed by Holmes.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. So, why do they call you Bananas?
