I can do 2 pull-ups and about 20 press-ups. According to your book I'm technically dead.

no, according to my book, you are way too good at press-ups! Start concentrating on the pull-ups for a while!

So if you do 25 pull-ups, which you should be able to do if you're fit, you should be able to do around 94 push-ups.

We can't just use a ratio from one man!

Good stuff! You need to try and bring your push-ups to 75 before you concentrate on improving your pull-up score, in my view.

Dude, what are you on about? Most of the regular Armed Forces in the US, just in Basic Training, only require about 50 or so in order to graduate. And besides the Marine Corps, they don't require any pull ups, althgough you do it in PT. And note: the Marines, in my experience, do pull ups with your palms facing in, not out.

I voted 70+ just because thats how many i did last time i can remember. But I am wondering how long are you aloud to rest in pushup position if you are aloud to rest at all?

I would say I completely agree with you, but there's no school record for push-ups, and due to my limitations in other areas, I'd like to try to get my name under the pull-up record.

Doesn't mean I can't work on both, though.

I'm trying to remembe the Marines commercial on TV, but my memory is failing me. YouTube time. I'll be back..

I think he was just saying the ratio between the two is a little off. I feel like 50 is pretty low compared to the 20 pullups I can do.

Didn't find the one I was looking for, but here's a screen cap from a newer commericial.

Kolya, mate, those are not pull-ups; they are chin-ups and they are much easier! Try it yourself! (You use your biceps much more). 50 push-ups?? That's for unfit pussies that don't exercise regularly, like me!

Last time I tried I could do 30 pushups in one set. Though it's been a while since I've done any normal pushups. I have been mainly doing decline pushups recently.
