I forgot about his interim, I thought only the WBA that did that kind of thing with their super champion status.

This is exactly what they wanted.

Both ****** and Arthur knew he did'nt have a hope in hell of beating Guzman.

I cannot understand why anyone (Jeff Thomas, Dunky) would believe that Arthur had a chance in this fight.

Gumzan is a true world class operator who colud hang with mexicos and the Philippines finest.

He's got bigger fish to fry and i'm glad hes vacated.

This or the WBU route was the only way AA was going to get a belt.

Ah well he can defend it against bums and make a bit of money.

TBH guys the time to cry 'foul' over this was when Arthur was matched with Gogoladze for the interim title. After winning that he was always going to be the full champ without a fight for the vacant if Guzman didn't fight at 135 again.

****** is far from an angel but this isn't his doing. If the full champ doesn't continue fighting at the weight then the interim champ becomes the champ. Thats just how it works.

Fight was called off citing 'visa problems' which Guzman says weren't an issue. But even if that had have been the problem, not a long term one you would have thought, just reschedule for a week later or so. No announcement is forthcoming though, time drags on. The Guzman announces he is vacating, saying ****** was talking about July dates. Arthur is awarded the title and, on the same day, Guzman is installed as WBO number one contender at lightweight, replacing ****** fighter Amir Khan.

Are you really sure that it's not Frank ******'s doing?

Theres a lot of rumours and I suspect we'll never know the real truth, was Guzman stalling over the visa to make weight? Was ****** stalling because AAA couldn't make the weight. I don't know and thats not the point I'm trying (unsuccessfully!!) to get across.....What I'm saying in my posts is that it's not ******s doing that an iterim champ doesn't have to fight for the vacant title to become the real champ. Thats all.

How predictable. The WBO giving Arthur the title was Frank ******s plan all along he was dreading Alex ever facing Guzman! Though it has probably saved the Brit forum an embarrasing night, nearly as embarrasing as tony oakey claiming to be world light heavyweight champion the same night Roy Jones was defending his title...

The interim "title" is the epitamy of paper champion and ****** is loving it. I expect the braehead arena to be sold out for the next few Arthr 'title fights'...

Fair play for Guzman for going after a real challenge, not many people are calling Nate Campbell out at the moment.

How can you praise Guzman? At the very least he's put the title on ice for 18 months and then agreed with ****** to trade it in for a number number one ranking 135.

Can't keep up with these conspiracy theories.

Are you suggesting Guzman has come to some sort of arrangement with ****** to vacate his Title and guaranteed him No. 1 contender position at lightweight with the WBO - knowing it would cost Khan his?

try very soon. ****** will be trying to recreate the buzz of haye-macca without the chance of losing either way.

in fact, if the fight is competetive he'll make a trilogy out of it.

No Elle, I'm just saying thats the worst you can accuse the situation of being.

I just think Guzman vacated, WBO promoted the interim champion (as per their rules) and then made their ex-champ at 130 the number 1 contender at 135. I guess thats too straightforward for a lot of people though eh?
