I dont like his straight squared up posture. But he does have power in both hands and speed. He maybe the next Floyd or the next Judah. Depends on his ring smarts.

Gamboa does not have the mobility and quickness on his feet of Roy.

True, but his upper body movement is on par, as early as it is to say. Also, there are no counter-punchers the level of Toney or Hopkins for Gamboa in the immediate future. Most of the top guys in the sport have exploitable flaws as well, people just stop harboring on about them once they've proven themselves. Gamboa is on that level as it is the way I see it.

Oh yeah ... its very hard to keep your hands up an entire session ... he threw hundreds of punches during that session.

He did a good job ... he showed that he does have skill ... rather or not his defense is up to par doesn't mean anything ... he's going to get hit during a fight ... hell its a fight ... thats neither here nor there ...

Alot of fighters drop their hands ... its virtually impossible to keep the hands in the same position during the whole fight.

I would like to see him develop a little savvy ... and some swag ...

He seems wound to tight ... I don't want to see him with the same approach as Casamayor and thats what his stance is looking like ... its common with all Cuban fighters.

He basically good at racking up points and delivering scoring blows ... w/ speed and power.

He's not at all illusive or possesses great head and shoulder movement ... but at times thats not the case.

He knows how to make adjustments (having over 400 fights) and he has the experience in fighting ... no matter what level ... i'm sure he's faced some good fighters throughout his amateur experience.

I don't think we should look at this guy under such a close scope and appreciate what he's showing us now in only one year as a professional.

Very true !!

He reminds me of an orthodox Casamayor w/ power ...

Cubans are just skilled at racking up points (scoring) there's no substance or flash in what they do ...

He's not going to weave his way in ... he's going to jab his way in ... he's going to fight backwards, but punching not pivoting.

I mean when Roy did it, wasn't it a tactic to bait his opponents ? I mean if I remember correctly Roy would anticipate right hands from his opponents all the time and quickly counter utilizing his superior hand speed and reflexes to punish people who fell for it. When I look at Gamboa though, it doesn't look intentional, and it looks more of like a mental slip than anything. It looks as though to compensate for dropping his left, he sets himself up to shoulder roll a bit but, there is a small window of opportunity where he leaves himself open for a good fast right hand. I am just saying that is the one thing I saw, I mean other than his sweet padwork.

Gamboa does the same thing as Roy, setting up counters, or simply looking to embarass the opponents at times. He sets up come good counter punches with his angles, though he's not as good a counter-puncher as Roy.

He isn't that young for the weight class he is fighting in. Realistically with his fighting style being so dependent on reflexes and for the weight he is competing in he will have to make it happen soon and there are some tremendous fighters in these categories.

Wait and see I guess.

Gamboa is complex type fighter. Kind of like Mayweather. He counter punches so much that it is hard to call him a counter puncher.

This is the future p4p #1 and all time great.

This guy has talent like noone else. He may even be a better natural talent than RJJ. Wicked.
