Default How does Hatton make weight so easily?

As per usual, Hatton has ballooned in weight and with a week to go to the fight, he was right in range weighing in at about 146.

So how does Hatton cut the weight so easily after letting his weight get so high?

And why hasn't he hit the stage where he cannot make weight/only make it by completely draining himself yet??

Any people with knowledge on this sort of thing know?

From what I read in some rag, he starts a special diet etc 8 weeks before a fight, combined with the exercise he shifts the weight.

I doubt it is healthy to knock so much weight off so quickly without it messing your body up in the long term but they guy has another few fights and then will retire a rich man (well he could retire now as a rich man).

Haye was on Talksport last week talking about his weight reduction for fights and even he said it was not a very healthy thing to do. At one stage the guy apparently had close to zero % body fat. No wonder he had stamina problems.

12 weeks is a long time (if that is how long he trains for). He cuts out the junk and does a lot of aerobic exercise and the weight falls off. If you listen to Jonoli he always bangs on about how small Hatton is, so 140lbs shouldn't be too hard for him to make.

Also remember he said he was close to zero % body fat, don't know what he considers as close to zero. Cuban amateurs also have very low body fat counts as this was one of the reasons cited for many of the exceptional defectors from making it in the pro ranks (may explain why Solis is getting fat).

Maybe he meant less than 5%.

Most people are around 25%, athletes get down to 10%, if he got anywhere near 5% I'd be impressed. Either way "nearly zero" is pure bullshit.

He lives and trains like a monk come camp-time

And Graham is well known for getting his fighters down in weight

Interesting article with Farnell I read, he's not a big fan of Graham's methods all in all it seems, although he does acknowledge each trainer has their own way.

Depends on his definition of nearly zero. Also he may have been using those fancy scales to calc his body fat, these are not very good for measuring body fat.

I saw the interview, I was doubting Haye not Kurt. If the average is 25% and a common figure for fighters is 10% then "nearly zero" better be a lot less than 5% in my book?

Not sure those numbers are correct dude

6-13% for athletes

Averagely fit dude probably less than 20%

I can believe Haye was etting into seriously low single digits, he was pure lean muscle

I'd bet my life he was over 3%, when athletes routinely get down to 10% thats not anywhere near zero in my book. Maybe its just splitting hairs but I remember the interview and thinking "what a load of shite".

Was it when he was trying to con ****** into making the Enzo match by saying he'd never make Cruiser again after the Mormeck fight?
