Default any olympic predictions?

I predict gold for Tischenko, Vodopyanov, Selimov, Korobov and if he's healthy Timurziev.

Another guy who likes Russian boxing

I would agree with your picks, although Tischenko isn't doing as well as he used to. Not as confident of his chances as I used to.

A lot of countries have really improved as well, like Great Britain, USA and Italy, so its not longer a Russia-Cuba type situation.

I think Beterbiev can win 178. That division just looks wide open, no one seems to really stand out. I have doubts about Chakhiev though.

Beterbeiv can win the Val Barker trophy for best fighter in the Olympics. I wish there was a one time PPV charge to see all the matches. I'd buy it.

Beterbiev isn't better than someone like Rau'shee ******, Zou Shiming, Matvei Korobov, or Demetrius Andrade. He's not even the best member of the Russian team (I'd give that to Korobov). He has a fun style to watch, to be sure, though.

I think Beterbiev has a really fun style, but in terms of nice boxing I'd even prefer Vodopyanov. In my opinion Korobov is the number 1 p4p amateur.

Kolya's correct about Beterbiev. Looks like the Russians could clean up this time. The revelation of this one could be Sergey Vodopyanov the 54kg WC. He's lightening fast and switches from southpaw to orthodox and back with ease. He's young but if he has a good tournament he could be a star.

First time I saw him was in last years Russian nationals. He was 19 years old, and I was really impressed. I expect great things from him!

I too have doubts about Chakhiev and think that if Romanchuk had that spot he would be a shoe in for the gold, but Chakhiev beat him fair and square. I hope Romanchuk turns pro soon. He has a lot of potential in my opinion.

Yea all I have read about him were glowing reports. His fight in Chicago against the Mongolian is on youtube.

From what I remember CHakhiev lost a close decision in Russia to Deontay Wilder. Doesn't exactly bode well, but maybe he had an off night. I think it's a shame, AVK told me Romanchuk and Lebziak had a falling out and that's why Romanchuk kind of got the shaft on the team. I agree about Vodpyanov, but 54kg could be an interesting class. He's the stand out, and Gary Russell can seem to be inconsistent, but when he's on he's a good one. The draw will come into play in a lot of weight classes I think; although I see someone like Korobov pretty much being immune to it, like Povetkin was.

Yes Chakhiev lost to Wilder by the closest of scores-11:10.

I had no idea Romanchuk had a falling out with Lebziak. I guess his amateur career is pretty much over then.
