Default Khan: champ at 21?

Anyone who saw the Khan doc on ITV last night would have seen the lad talking constantly for an hour about how he is gonna be world champ by 21. But at the end of the piece ****** says point blank it aint gonna happen because he's no where near ready.

Just wondered if anyone thought they should let Khan know this as its making him look very silly?

I hope he gets put in a world title fight by the time he's 21.
He comes over as a proper nobhead.

Naw he's not a nobhead, just confident, probably over confident given what happened in his last fight. He has to realise that a) he can't punch like say Naz and b) doesn't have the elusivness or chin of a Naz either. He's gotta work on his technique and defense and that's gonna take time. It's still possible for him to win a world title down the line, just not when he's 21.

If Rees somehow beats M'Baye tomorrow night, then I would expect Khan to fight for the WBA title in his next fight. I doubt Rees wins though, but stranger things have happened.

I hoped Khan would be the next UK De La Hoya, but he's not going to be. Weak chin, not a huge puncher. Too many minuses to be a great fighter. It's not all bad news.

However, we have had weak chinned champs before. Can a really good trainer tighten his defence and train him how to punch with real force.

The weak chin makes his fights more entertaining from now on, because everyone has a chance to beat him.

Can he stay at lightweight for long, could he make superfeatherweight? for a fight with Alex Arthur?

Maybe. Who knows!

Khan did look like a cunt. he's got too much family around him, his dad seems a nice guy, but he's fooling Amir's head full of shite saying ' yeah no problem' after nearly getting knocked out by Limond

they says they where going to go to Freddie Roach's gym for a while. Good idea.

I agree it will definately introduce him to the gritty and tough side of boxing he has yet to experience. Wouldnt be surprised to hear a few stories about him getting bullied about by some of the guys there, however if Khan learns his natural skill and experience gained will allow him to surpass them over time.

If Khan wants to have a good career, he can drop the world champion by 21 thing. It aint gonna happen, unless they find a really weak champion, but i dont think there is any at 135 that Khan will beat inside the next 2 years. He needs to take it slower, else he'll be KTFO'd very soon.

This has been hype all along. Khan isn't fighting for the British title until he is 21 and that isn't until December.

Why Is their an age minimum for the British and Euro belts?

As soon as their allowed to be pro and beat decent ranked fighters age shouldn't matter.

I call bullshit on his recent training developments - sure, the eating and stuff is obvious, he's a professional athlete.

But 17" neck? McCall and Ali have that sized necks.

90kg bench press? It's probably a one rep max, which means his 8 rep max is about 70-75kg - I'm sure there's a lot of small men who can bench that.

Don't jump on that hype wagon!

So we have to wait until December for Thaxton to KO him.

If Thaxton is reading this, keep in good shape mate and keep improving and Khans name is yours.

You have to give it all the mouth on the way up... Clay/Ali always said he was going to beat Patterson's record to be youngest Heavyweight Champ... He failed to live up to that boost, but that did not seem to do that much harm!

Amir is doing something very hard; fighting on tv from fight one. Everyone is going to see everytime something does not go 100% right, but only time will tell whether he can make the improvements needed.

There just is. I don't know of any age restrictions for Euro. I know it for Britain. Naz fought for the Euro belt when he was 20 so I doubt there are any restrictions.

Khan could only fight 10 rounders when he hit 20. That is why 24 hours after his 20th he entered a 10 rounder.

He can't actually fight Thaxton until December.
