walcott could outbox hatton too, sorry. yes, walcott would end his career in a brawl. Who has Hatton outboxed over 12 rounds? Besides walcott has outboxed fighters over 15 rounds whom Hatton couldn't carry their jock.

did u see the Brian Kenny interview with Hatton when he was hitting the heavy bag...."show me how u set up shots with the jab" (Hatton hits bag with several combinations)....Kenny replies "i didn't see any jabs"...because there were none.

are u really comparing possibly the all time greatest pound for pound punch in boxing...to Ricky "Got Outboxed By Luis Collazo" Hatton? Ricky "I beat up old men" Hatton? I don't even get it! 147 was too much for Hatton. 7 pounds? Are u kidding me? Was it too much for Cotto? Was it too much for Mayweather? Was it too much for Oscar? Was it too much for Mosely? And those are fighters of todays generation.

I would not say that Walcott was simply a brawler.

He was an offensive fighter but seems to have been a polished one in the mould of Jack Dempsey or Mike Tyson. Contemporary acounts talk of oponents "wilting under the science and rushes of Walcott".

He also inexplicably abandoned his efective attacking style and outboxed his oponents on a couple of ocasions. Harry Greb also did this more than once.

I think this fight is another which solely depends on rules. If hatton is wearing the gigantic gloves, he would win easily. Give Walcott tiny gloves, and his defence and offence would work far more than Hatton's would, so he'd win clearly.

If the fight took place tommorow, Hatton with ease.

Nat Fleischer covered him in, "Black Dynamite Vol. 3. The Three Colored Aces".
John McCallum, wrote about him in the "Encyclopedia of World Boxing Champions".

Also a lot of his fights are covered in the online archives of the "Brooklyn Daily Eagle".

The Barbados Demon was crazy strong so Hatton wouldn't be able to push him around like most of his opponents plus Walcott hit crazy hard. I think Walcott would win early knockout Hatton just doesn't match up well.

I really do think you need to have seen the fighters concerned for a opinion to be individual and really informed.

7 pound turned out to be a lot for Wilfredo Gomez.
