Just like a fight w/ Pac v Valero ... as much as I would like to see this happen ... Pac wouldn't make nearly as much money as he's made Saturday night against a guy like Valero, so why take the fight.
Its not career defining ... hell Pac has been in the game since 95' ... after 13 yrs in the game you would think he'd have a career defining fight or two. The same w/ PBF ... he's been in the game since 96' and has acheived everything there is to acheive. Why fight Cotto? To prove what? ... Cotto has only been a WW since 12-06 ... while Floyd has been there since 11-05 and has already won the universally recognized title/linear title/ring magazine/WBC strap ... thats more that Cotto could ever dream of ... no matter who he faced ... Cotto would have to do alot more to get where PBF has been. Add to that a SWW title ... |

At a catchweight of 143 .... Floyd can make that ... If Pac looks good at 140 (which I think he will) then he sets himself up for a showdown w/ PBF. |

Maybe he should be thats not the point ... no one at lightweight is as marketable as he is. You can even factor in the new guys who have moved up from SFW.

IF PAC BEATS HATTON Floyd Mayweather WILL fight MANNY PACQUIAO this is a 100% certainty! Why the fuck would Floyd fight a real threat like Cotto when he could make 3x the money against Manny? I can't stand Floyd but its true, the guy is fucking with boxing. And I don't think its amazing at all. |

i think a better fight for the both of them AND for us fans would be Judah vs. Pac very similar styles. but i don't think it's too good of an idea for Pac to be moving up too much in weight.

I also see a Pac vs PBF fight. All depends on Pac fighting and beating another lightweight champ and then if he beats Hatton convincingly. Fitz you are right, but I want to see good challenging fights, not who can bring the most money to the table. We end up paying the rediculous prices. Pac, Oscar, PBF, Jones, Jr, and Joe are great examples on making the most before they go. We not? "Hey Floyd, Pac is moving up to possibly 142 and he just destroyed Hatton, do you want to fight him for 25 million"? What do you think PBF or any other fighter's answer is going to be?
If Pac can unify or stop one more 135 champ and bring that power to 140 and stop Hatton. Of course, they are going to look at possibly moving up to 147. It is too early though. |
