Ken Buchanan vs. Ricky Hatton

I have absolutley no doubt that Hatton would do an awful lot better than some people seem to think. He's rough and persistant.

He'd lose, but I see it close but clear, assuming Hatton doesn't cut up.

Agreed. I think Hatton's style is contrasting enough to make the fight interesting. I imagine he would lose 9/12 or 10/15 rounds, but that probably doesn't tell the whole story. I imagine it would be a close fight overall, but Buchanan should win the majority of the rounds.

Hatton would stay close for about 8 rounds imo, but would get thoroughly owned down the stretch and most probably stopped over 15.

Buchanan is simply too well schooled and Ricky holds no real advantage over him, not infighting, and not conditioning either.

Ken will permanently brand Hatton with his jab and when Hatton slows up just a touch, he gets worked over.

I don't think Hatton has a better workrate, but he is bigger, and he may be physically stronger when it comes to grappling and smothering. But Ken was tough as nails and he could easily take anything Hatton dishes up to him imo and return fire with interest.

In any case though, once Hatton loses a bit of sharpness and can't move in to grapple with the speed of the initial rounds, he will start to get beat down and ultimately stopped I think.

Buchanon never fought above 135, Hatton weighs 155-160 on fight night because of day prior weigh ins, Hattons 15lb + weight advantage would give him the huge weight advantage here. All the same Buchanons skill and movement keeps him in the fight but Hatton would be so much bigger, stronger and harder hitting. I see it going the same as Duran-Buchanon but Ken lasts the distance

Hatton is a real junior Welter who blows up between fights. He would have fought at the weight during Ken's days and is actually smaller than someone like Cervantes.A guy like Mosley was bigger than Hatton imo.

I don't see that big a difference.It's a decent sized jr welter against a tall, fairly big lightweight.

Buchanan fought a pretty competent welterweight named Donato Paduano whilst being 10 pounds lighter himself and pretty much schooled him. Buchanan was incredibly strong and resilient, and it will take more than mere size to defeat him. Personally, I don't think Hatton's skills are on his level and he will really struggle as the fight goes on.
