Default Danny Williams 99.9%

Every Time Danny Williams steps in the ring, in my opinion he shows flashes of greatness. If you watch the fight Danny Williams up until the 5th round was fight out of a "James Lights Out Toney" defence. Danny Williams was intimidating John McDermott out of this stance, i don't believe Danny Williams took this fight very seriously in terms of conditioning etc.

But just like James Toney, there is no doubt, there is no question..Danny Williams can fight.

It was in the 5th round when Danny Williams, suddenly switched to a square on stance and just started to move forward..."Saying come on hit me, i just want to brawl"

Danny Williams made a bad decision, he is not a semi - mobile tank like Ronald Winky Wright he cannot walk through bombs, with a impregnable defence like Ronald WInky Wright.

Not many fighters can have a bad night and still win, Danny Williams is one of those fighters. He has more naturally ability than 99.9% of the heavyweights active today.

That is not a joke, it is a calculated fact...Barry Mcguigan is man that also recognises this.

There is no questioning Danny Williams heart and courage, for him to have success, he needs to be mentally focused and in a positive mind frame.

"If he turns up to every training session like that, and every fight"

This is a big statement i am about to make..

"Not many Heavyweights would be able to beat him"

"I still believe, and he is back"

For a heavyweight, yes, he does(did) possess a greater skill set than 90% of the big guys around right now.

Skill alone gets you nowhere though.

If Danny had footwork and more workrate he'd be a better fighter at Euro level but that bulks messed him up.

Got a lot of bottle and heart though.

i am a fan of his but he must drive his followers mad with his inconsistant performances, sometimes he turns up in shape and boxing well and at other times he looks awful but all together he can be proud of his achievements , no doubt!!!!!

Audley absolutely took Williams apart! Having said that he did take the fight at short notice.

thanks for sorting my confusion out... I just thought it was because Mcdermot has a decent uppercut and actually used it in the 5th round. A punch that Williams is massively susceptable to as proven by Klitshko, Samil Sam and Tyson (before the fourth).

im a big fan of williams,
but he was doing the james toney thing all wrong. its very basic and he over does it. mcdermott was scared to throw cos danny was so low down that he would have risked it by reaching.
he simply isnt as versatile as toney, he is quite rigid. but yes i agree he can fight! and i hope he wins a world title soon

DW is finished, he has shown nothing in terms of skill in his last half dozen fights and relied on lucky KO punches to win. He is abosrbing too much and is no prime Tyson when it comes to KO power.

He was always the best British heavyweight on the scene. Far more capable than Sprott, Harrison or the Human Mudslide. His bludgeoning of Scott Gammer was impressive but he doesn't seem to have the mindset or dedication needed to prevail above Euro level.

Having questioned his mentality however he has shown tremendous heart on occasion. Getting up to take more bombs from Vitali Klitschko was plain nuts.

I cannot see Danny enhancing his career any further now though. In terms of challenging the top guys in the division forget about it.

Danny at best could have a top 10 European level fighter. He never showed any glimpses of going to world class or to genuine world top 10 ratings. The guy has been very over rated during his career because of a few good performances against poor opposition and the fact that guys like Skelton and Williams have appeared at a similar time. Harrison had far better skill and could have gone further where as Skelton has showed himself to be better than Williams.

I didn't see Skelton's fight with Chageav which many seem to believe he gave a good account of himself in but the rest of his career has been an affront to pugilism imo.

He may be effective but he makes Hatton look like Ray Leonard.
