He wasn't bad. He was the worst loser in boxing history though. Last edited by deram; 03-20-2006 at 09:18 PM. |

Ron Borges of the Boston Globe called the Holyfield-Tyson fight and was about the only sports writer here on the east coast who did. Teddy Atlas called not only the rematch, but how Tyson was going to get himself disqualified once he realized that Holyfield would beat him.
Clancy is a fair call. |

Borges has lived off that one.

Having said that, I seem to remember him predicting Tyson would implode against Michael Spinks. |

Ed Schuyler stands out by a country mile. Of all the numerous fights i have seen him pick he bats better than all others and was often perfectly set in his fight description as well. He got some wrong, that's always going to happen but he got many right. He may as well have written up the fight results of Spinks - Braxton and Pryor - Arguello before they even happened. Unbelievable foresight.

I've seen Manny Stewart make some very good calls. The worst I rember was Dick Young. He would pick fighters for all the wrong reasons. His best might have been Marvis Frazier over Larry Holmes.

Ali was pretty good early on calling the rounds he would finish the fight
He was so good that when NY put up a bill to abolish boxing they called in Ali to ask if he thought their was a problem that he was calling the exact rounds his opponent would fall in. |
