He was knocked out twice by Nick Wells in 1972 in the amateurs.

In the pros, Kevin Isaac, Renaldo Snipes, Earnie Shavers, and, of course, Tyson.
And Butterbean.

Heh, the Butterbean one was a total slip...Holmes looked downright embarrassed about taking a count for that one, the ref was totally wrong but Larry just had to stand there and take the 8. The commentators were getting all giddy too but had to change their tune when the replays showed.

Does footage of Holmes-Isaacs exist? I'm guessing it'd be a flash KD, but it would be nice to see it.

I was gonna say, if it was legit, it would be highly embarrassing.

Unfortunately, super greg page didn't meet him, if they did, I'm sure it would've happened.

That's a very accurate summary. I have seen the tape and the commentators do a 180 once they see the instant replay, which CLEARY shows it was a slip. And yet to this day, Butterbean will still list the KD over Larry Holmes as among his career achievements. I remember he did it in an interview with DoghouseBoxing and they wouldn't even call bullshit on it. Oh well, it is. Butterbean you're a sad man.

Yeah, Larry was knocked out by Nick Wells in 1972, and turned pro in 1973.Page started boxing around 74/75, and truly started making waves around 75.

Page truly started making waves in infancy, when he was given his first bath, and whenever he entered water from that time forth.
