I've been sparring with new people lately and for some reason I really get nervous and tensed...I start to feel weak in my legs and seems like I get worn out faster then when I train. I know this is the mental aspect of boxing but any tips on how to get rid of this tension?

dont think about it too much but its important not to be too relaxed aswell. just think bout all the hard work you've put in and think more so on techniques as ur waiting to get in the ring, and not so much "ohh shit man im nervous... fuk i betta calm down... oh no im waisting energy" ect....

Whenever you feel like you're getting tense, take a couple steps back and to the side... then take a deep breath and exhale it quickly letting the shoulders drop at the same time. This is a classic relaxation technique.
Try it while you're shadowboxing or hitting the bag and make it a regular part of your game. And while you're sparring, get someone at ringside to yell it out to you so you remember to do it. Vitali Klitschko used it all the time. |

Take slow deep breath. Don't focus on the outcome of a fight like winning or any ego stuff, or past outcomes, focus on the now. Is he/she a slugger, fast puncher, counterer, etc. Remember you're balance and take it slow and play it as a game. And as you spar more you'll be more relaxed.
