It is a claim, like many others that I have mentioned. I am pretty sure we are both on the same page as far as what we think of the WBO, but I suspect Pyatt did not mind, making a little bit more money than he would of without the belt.

Also although an ancient version, Pyatt did beat Kalambay to win the crown, which is nice achievement when writing out your boxing CV, at the end of your career.

As mentioned Langford won versions of 'world titles'.

Bivins was considered by a significant amount of people, World Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight 'duration' champion during the Second World War.

Well by default Ezzard Charles wouldn't count since he won The heavyweight world title but honestly I feel like he should have also gotten a shot at lightheavyweight crown considering his resume at that weight and the people he beat while at lightheavyweight. A champion in two divisions would have been nice on his resume but I guess considering what he has accomplished it wouldn't make a difference either way as he is already rated with the best

For a 70s lightheavy contender, Ahumada was better than Yaqui imo.

Thought Herol was a great boxer, saw him a few times and a delight to watch, but he had his chances.Feel that if hed fought Julian Jackson 4 more times he would have won 4 decisions. Also that a younger Herol would have beat Brewer, but that he would never have beat Mike McCallum, the Sugar Ray Robinson of the era.
Does anyone remember Gert van Heerden from South Africa?Never won a world title but seem to remember he was beating a lot of people.Ithink he died young.Could he be considered in this?

Charley Burley, Jimmy Bivins, Lloyd Marshall, Eddie Machen, Zora Folley, Ike Ibeabuchi, David Tua, Oba Carr (I think he held the WBO belt for a minute though)

An old timer named Young Corbett the 3rd, had over 100 wins, only 11 losses, and most losses came in last year as fighter. Beat many top guys of his time, fought all the best, got only one shot at tittle and lost decision.

Young Corbett III was welterweight champ. lost his title to Jimmy McLarnin then moved up to middle and beat Fred Apostoli but was stopped in a rematch for the middleweight title.

I think George Benton deserves some consideration. He's probbly not the best, but after World War 2 he may be the best non Murders Row boxer to never win a world championship.
