Who can beat this?
"Patterson knocked Johansson out in the fifth round of their rematch on [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], with a leaping left hook to become the first man to recover the world's undisputed heavyweight title. The punch caught Johansson's chin and he hit the canvas with a thud, out before he landed flat on his back. With blood trickling from his mouth, his glazed eyes staring up at the ring lights, and his left foot quivering, the Swede was counted out. After the count, Patterson showed his concern for Johansson by cradling his motionless opponent, and promising him a second rematch. Johansson lay unconscious for five minutes before he was placed on a stool brought into the ring. He was still dazed and unsteady fifteen minutes after the knockout as he was helped out of the ring." Like the input fellas, but can you put some accurate numbers on these devastating KOs.
I reckon it would make a great set of stats for comparisons of one punch power. Based on the wikipedia entry Patterson scores 5 minutes. Can anyone provide a reliable source for a figure greater than this? Quote:

Um, let's see...
I think James Schuler was out for around the same length of time when Hearns KO'd him. I'm not sure of the exact time, but he was on the canvas for ages. I'm sure Marciano KO'd someone for an even longer period of time (around 10 min.) but I'm gonna have to dig into the archives to make sure about that one. To be honest though, it's probably impossible to say, because even though it may look like the guy has recovered and is walking back to the dressing room looking ok, he will still be "out on his feet." He'll respond to questions and things like that, but he's a zombie and probably doesn't know what planet he's on. I've read accounts of fighters only truly regaining conciousness two or more hours after a nasty KO loss. One a seperate but related incident, a Formula One driver called Martin Brundle once had a very bad crash during practice in 1984. He walked back to the pits, assured everyone he was alright, got in the spare car, revved it a few times and then asked what race track they were at. So yeah, it may look like they're fine and dandy and all that, but technically they're still "out." |

I understand Bob Foster knocked Vicente Rondon out for perhaps ten minutes. He certainly looked like he wasn't going to get up, and had to be carried from the ring in a stretcher. His skull was fractured.
From memory, legend has it that Joe Louis knocked out a man for thirty minutes early in his career. I forget who exactly. |

I've read that Joey Maxim was out for 10 minutes against Curtis Sheppard.
Of the fights I've seen, Ray Lampkin was out a long time against Duran. If I remember correctly, I think they carried him out on a stretcher. Sonny Liston was out quite a while against Leotis Martin. |
