I think it's Norton-fight close (ie: a round or two in it). Charles has underestimated power which offsets a bit what I see as Larry's slight edge in terms of overall stylistic factors. I know Charles is more natural below heavyweight level, but in terms of schooling both fighters are close.

Easy pick.... Larry Holmes TKO 10 Ezzard Charles.... Holmes bigger and stronger, and could do everything that the 183 lb. Charles could do..... Holmes by TKO---NO DOUBT!!

Ur call seems very reasonable Charles. I like holmes by close decision as well, holmes jab is the difference maker here. Ezzard Charles biggest vunerability in his career was his susceptibility to a 6'3 mans jab.

Thank you Suzie. Yes, that is what I was thinking. I am no expert on Ezzard, but from the footage I have seen of him, it would appear as though he has trouble with the 6'3" man's jab.

Hey suzie,

I think its time to throw Corrie Sanders into the works here.

How does he do against a prime Holmes and peak Charles?

Corrie Sanders was a Freak of nature. he would be way too much for ezzard charles who was down 30 times in his career. Imagine what would happen when Sanders lands his super fast left punch on a 180lb man? sanders KO 1

Sanders stops holmes in the 7th round, Renaldo Snipes couldnt punch he had holmes all but out...when sanders hits holmes he will do more than run into the ring post...he will fall out of the ring out cold. Holmes never fought a southpaw, so I dont think he is capable of handling a supersouthpaw style....too much speed two fisted power and unorthodox genius involved.

Actually, Holmes DID fight a southpaw in David Bey ( who was equally as good as Sanders ). In addition, Holmes was far more suseptible to right hands than lefts......

What say you?

Come on, are we REALLY going to compare the mortal David Bey and Super Southpaw Freak of Nature Corrie Sanders?

Look, Bey was NOT a *****...... D.B. was just a fat porker with little stamina... YET! Bey had some boxing skill... Christ, he did outbox a fat Greg Page in the 80s... Bey fought Holmes hard--for "5" rds., and then faded to get KO'd in 10 in 1985 on HBO... After Bey lost to "Crusher" Smith in '86, I lost track of Dave Bey...... BUT!! I saw Bey sparring with Larry Holmes in 1992 out in Vegas while Holmes was training for Holy...

I saw a few of Bey's later fights against Bruce Seldon and Joe Hipp, on local cable. He was a washed up journeman at the time, but he applied the left hook regularly, and the commentators kept commenting on it. This was 15+ years ago, so I may be mistaken

Bey was never ever a good fighter and when Page came into the ring with tits he fought like a big titted bitch
