??
Wanted to look at an era where discrimination was less of an issue, where fighters of all races and creeds could get a shot but either were just avoided or some other incident stopped them from bagging a title. |

I always liked Oba Carr, maybe not the best but what bad timing coming along with Whittacker, Quartey, Trinidad and Hoya all in your weight class

Yeah he was another one Jear but I think his chin was always going to let him down.
Had an awesome double left hook. Last edited by WhataRock; 10-27-2008 at 11:26 PM. |

Also thought Mike Watson was around at a time it was hard to bag a title, he probably could have bagged one in a weaker era.
Some say Tua aswell but he had his shot and showed what he was about. |

If you are to include the 70's,I would say the best fighter, not to hold any world title belt in the heavyweight division, would be Jimmy Young.Out toughing and out husting Foreman and Ron Lyle and, in the consideration of many, actually outpointing faded versions of Ali and Norton has to rank high.

As for the question; how about Hedgemon Lewis (if you do not include his New York title)? Tony Sibson probably wins an alphabet title if a certain Marvelous fighter was not around. |
