I scored it 115-113 Parker, but I would agree with a draw. Ruiz was very inactive some rounds, he had the overhand when he got close. If he fought more closely he would have won, but he let Parker control the pace.
It was so close throughout but Ruiz just let Parker snatch a couple of easy rounds then it got close again. those couple of middle rounds made the difference to the cards. I had Parker by 2 Christmas gifts from the Mexican. Parker got lucky today.
Parker won but not by much. I guess because Parker is the more hyped fighter people are just slagging on him but not giving much credit to Ruiz. He fought well and TBH if he got his weight in a good range he could do so much better than he currently does. But a win is a win, and Parker now had Takam and Ruiz Jr under his belt, which are both good scalps. How will he stand against AJ and the works idk. But for now he's still managed a win against two decent dudes, so its put him slightly above decent and will get him a footnote at the least in HW history, which is more than 99% of boxers have done. If he continues to improve then all the better for him
114-114. I scored round 7 for Ruiz though and most folks in the RBR seemed to think that was a Parker round.
Guys remember this is a kiwi infested forum, and right now a lot of kiwis are online. If you go to the scene they all had Ruiz winning.
I went to the Scene and it was far from unanimous. Still, you may be right about the # of kiwis online at the moment, we should wait until more people watch the replay and vote.
I'm talking about the RBR, go check their RBR during the fight almost everyone had Ruiz up, I was looking at theirs because I cant trust boxingforums because it's kiwi infested.
I didn't score it but I would say a draw would be fair. I'll have to re-watch it although I don't want to - it was pretty lame
It was a close fight I had it 115-114 to Parker. Maybe Ruiz deserved a draw but he did so little for many of the rounds it's hard to really give him more than 6 rounds. Parker was lucky to be fighting a guy who will always struggle to throw enough to win a decision against anyone decent but also unlucky to find himself against an opponent that had a style that took away all his strengths. I feel Parker could have won more convincingly had he decided to engage less. Had he simply decided against exchanging with Ruiz in some rounds, he could have easily won rounds just by moving and boxing behind his jab, as he was getting very little pressure from Ruiz who was content to follow Parker around throwing little and only letting go as a counter to Parker's offense.
