I remember Al Bernstein mentioning he owned a a hairdressers with his girlfriend, so it's good he doesn't need to fight for financial reasons. I'm planning on getting his fights with Jhonny Gonzales, Ivan Hernandez and one or two others with my monthly DVD subscription next month.

I'll be honest - about a year ago I wouldn't have known who Israel Vazquez was. Now I have so much respect for both Vazquez and Rafael Marquez. I know some folk think their fights are overrated in terms of excitement, but to me they lived up to all the hype.

    Karim Mayfield vs Steve Forbes

Interesting fight. I thought Mayfield looked good. He controlled the distance well in this fight, maybe could have jabbed a bit more, but he was clearly the ring general in this bout. Forbes is Forbes, beating him isn't exactly climbing everest, but stopping him seemed nearly out of the question. Mayfield did it, and I know there are question marks over the stoppage, but I felt it seemed fair. Mayfield was landing that wicked right hand throughout the fight, he hurt Forbes in the first with it, and had his buzzed in the 8th round aswell. Mayfield caught Steve hard with it in the final round, from the perfect distance, and Forbes night was as good as over. Impressive win if you ask me.

Mayfield looks like an interesting prospect. I think they should put him in with Soto-Karass, that's a winnable fight for Karim, and would be a good name to add to his resume.

Interesting thing about Mayfield, he was sparring Pacquiao in preparation for the Mosley fight, and was actually sacked as a sparring partner by Roach because, not only was he not imitating Mosley, he was giving Pac quite a few problems apparently.

I thought the stories were that he just decided to headbutt him

I guess that was the 'party line'

According to a news report in the General Santos City said it was because of repeated "headbutts", but, seeing as they had headgear, this rumour was quashed, and from what I've heard the aforementioned reasons were the real cause.

Paul Spadafora apparently beat up Mayweather in sparring as well...

Finished watching De La Hoya vs Trinidad. I genuinely can't see how you could possibly score that as a win for Trinidad. He gets the last three rounds, meaning that he needs four out of the first nine to win. No chance.

Pacquiao consistently struggles against slick fighters and Mayweather is the slickest of them all.

Mayweather struggles with people that aren't past their best.

    And southpaws.
