Vitali was ahead on the scorecards. Beeing two points ahead halfway through a fight does not guarentee you will win. Especially not since Lewis had won the latest two rounds, according to Emmanuel Steward because he had started to adapt.

The cut was caused by a thumb. Stuff like that happends in boxing, and therefore fighters must make sure they don't get hit/headbutted/grazed by thumps. Vitali failed to do so. Lewis did not.

Lewis fled in to retirement. Lewis was 38. Regardless if Vitali would have been able to beat an even older Lewis, old boxers have no obligation to stick around and absorb punishment from younger fighters. I would not like to see Lewis end up like Jones, or Holyfield. It is a disgrace.

Lewis tried to fight Tyson instead. Yeah, and you would have done it to, for the money, and you know it.

Can we now all agree to let go off the subject?

There's alot of white supremacists in estern europe who support the Klits, iv been 9 times to watch Arsenal play and every time black players get bannana's thrown at them, ****** chants everytime they touch the ball ect, and its gotten alot worse ... A black man nearly ripped there favorite boxers face off at 40 years old so they resort to hatred . Now look at the Haye threads and you will see the same blind hatred.

Of course Lewis won the last two rounds klit wa practically blind in that eye.
The question that has to be asked is if the cut wasn't there how would of that fight progressed?
And it would of been a KO by klit.
Lewis knew that, and it was time to hang them up.

Vitali was holding on to LEWIS like a HOMOSEXUAL. It was clear he was going to be stopped.

lewis got lucky, if that cut didnt happen there was a big chance he would have lost his title that night, would have been better because it would set up a big legacy. and he definitely ducked vitali in a rematch, it doesnt matter much now and its very smart of him as well. I consider it a great lucky win, it helped vitali as well.

I agree there's no controversy, and that Lewis had no obligation to give a rematch to Vitali. A win is a win. What I don't appreciate from the ******s out there is the trollish implication that the win was comprehensive and the same as a true outpointing/knockout. Cut wins are always unsatisfactory in comparison.

what a great war this was.

a passing of the torch if you will, unfortunately vitali's injury problems prevented him ever reaching true greatness but that's where lil bro stepped in :)

2000-2010 = the era of lewis + wlad.

    vitali was merely a transition.

I don't get why people say stuff like, "Boxer B got lucky, if it wasn't for the cut, Boxer A would have won". This is boxing, cuts happen, via punches, accidental head butts, etc. Boxers need to be prepared for almost any scenario, including cuts...they all enter into the ring knowing that they could be cut. If anything, the ability of a boxer, the mental strength of a boxer, etc is tested if cut...just like a punch can change a fight, a cut can also change a fight, but it is part of boxing, and the participants need to adapt in that situation.
