There is NO controvercy in Vitalis loss against Lewis. Argumentation from a K'fan.

Has anybody got a clear GIF or a video of the punch that caused the cut?

Because, for me, that was the fight-changer. It really hampered Vitali's momentum and allowed Lewis to crawl back into the fight. And what's worse, is that from my memory, the cut wasn't even caused by a normal punch. Instead it was the graze from Lewis' glove lace. So you can understand why Klit fans feel hard done by, and why they regard that fight as unfinished business.

Edit: I can't for the life of me find that clip of the glove-lace/seam grazing Vitali's eye. Maybe I dreamt it. But in searching for it, I'm seeing plenty of clips of Lewis digging his head into Vitali's face - which probably opened the cut some more.

I would have no problem with them stoping the fight...If they would have done it like 2-3 rounds before that. What you guys fail to remember is Vitali had that cut for a while, and it was basically as bad as when it first started as when they finally stopped the fight.
Lewis was dead tired when they stopped the fight, Vitali was still fighting very well, and like I said the cut apparently wasn't effecting him, and wasn't much worse than when it first opened. That is MY PROBLEM. You stop a fight whenever the champ about passes out on his stool, and yet the opponent (the guy with the ripped off face the last 3 rounds) looks quite strong.
I wouldn't even say anything if the ref would have told Vitali...I'm giving you 2 rounds, if you don't knock him out I'm going to stop this fight because of that cut. Give the man a damn chance to finish it, or go out on his shield before you end it! FFS you let him fight 3 rounds with a crimson mask...At least let him know your going to stop it the end of the round when he has the crimson mask, or after 3 just tell him "You got one more!"

 

can we just stop taking about this. It was interesting maybe for like 2 months after the fight but now after so many years its getting boring at pointless . Unless someone finds out some shocking information that no one knew about how about we just agree to disagree and end this once and for all.

 

Lennox did what others have not been able to do with Vitali, he caught him pulling straight the **** back, and those kind of punches will open cuts. He stepped with him and caught him with a good right. I don't think it was a thumb at all.
Vitali was winning the fight, but he lost it, simple as that. It was the correct call. He knew the eye was bad and he couldn't finish Lewis off, he had 3 rounds to do so and he couldn't do it. Lewis retired and the fight, even though a loss was very good for Vitali, it made him a star in the US and he was fighting for the title in no time and he won it. I think he also lost his desire to fight at that time because all he wanted was a rematch with Lewis, he never stopped talking about it. He got over it, came back and has been winning ever since.
No matter if your a K fan or not, I don't know how anyone can't at least give him credit for fighting on with that eye, I don't recall him once complaining about the eye between rounds at all. He was fighting like a man. It was the best HW fight I've seen since Bowe-Holyfield I, and still is to this day.

The fact a 38 year old overweight unprepared (he only knew he was fighting Vitali 2 weeks prior) smashed his face and gave him his most difficult fight to date only reinforces the fact these brothers have had an easy ride up until now!!

but thats all about to change in just over a week!!

Who the hell cares anymore...water under the bridge. Both guys fighting each other on two weeks notice and the Fight was an absolute war,uneventful ending but....**** happens. Lewis won, His fans have there lame excuses for why VitK did so good and Vitali's fans have lame excuses for why he lost.They could have fought ten times and split it 5 a piece for all we know.....and we dont know.Now lets move on.

Klit was so ****ing tired he was grasping and graping onto Lewis. Lewis was also tired, but he was definitely the stroonger of the two in that last round, and it's pointless to try to argue. Lewis hit Klit and he had to run and grab onto lewis to keep from hitting the canvas. Fact.

 

If any other fighter gets stopped due to receiving an injury from a legal blow it's a TKO. If it happens to a Klit, it's a glorious victory.

What a fanbase.

 

It's something that's just always festering under the surface and never goes away like AIDS or herpes.
