In all fairness to Pender, GP, he wasn't the same fighter after his charisma bypass operation.

Talking of absolutely no charisma, David Price is like a block of wood. Lucky he's been exciting in his last few fight, we can let him off.

Bobby Chacon, win, lose or draw, was probably the most naturally charismatic fighter (as opposed to media manufactured charisma) I watched during my time as a fan of the sport. (Even now, in his diminished state, he seems disarmingly endearing, according to those who meet him. Personality is the last to go with dementia.)

It's easy to make jokes at Pender's expense, rc, but Hollywood recognizes a gold mine. They're gonna dig up Claude Rains to play Pender in a re-make of THE INVISIBLE MAN.

When he made Boza Edwards dance a wild jig in their first match with one of those chain swinging rights, I went up off my chair. In that final classic with Limon, I was bed ridden with the flu, and a temperature of 103. When Schoolboy dropped him with that last minute knockdown, I leaped off my couch, and jumping up and down, waved wildly with my arm from right to left, willing Bazooka down, then arms upraised as he hit the deck, certain that the two point round which would result would win Bobby the title, as it did. That is the most excited I've ever been watching any match on television, and it came after all those boxing obituaries of Bobby's I read following Boza Edwards I.
