Undercards that have bettered the main event

Groves vs Anderson was better than the main event but that wasn't difficult

 

Jones vs Soto Karass on the Pac vs Margo undercard. Vasquez vs Gonzalez as mentioned above. Theres probably a shitload but I cant think now. Remember one great 4 rounder on the untelevised portion of a top rank card. Think it was one the Arroyos against a Jap. Cant remember what the main event was though

 

Chris Edwards vs Paul Edwards has to be a candidate domestically.

 

One of my favourite fights is Erik Morales vs. In Jin Chi. But i stupidly can't recall whether it was an undercard fight or not. Correct me of i'm wrong fellas, but wasn't it on a Roy Jones undercard? Or maybe i'm just having one of those moments, lol.

 

Mayorga vs Lewis & Jones vs Gonzalez were on the undercard, I'm not sure which was the main event, but I think it was the Mayorga fight.

 

Yeah, Lee-McEwan was a very good fight.

Has there ever been a Ring FOTY that wasn't a main event?

 

Mayorga can't have headlined a show with a peak Roy Jones and Erik Morales on it.

If Jones was on that card he was the headliner.

 

McGuigan being dicussed on another thread fought Cruz on the undercard of Tommy Hearns v Mark Medal.

 

Wasn't McGuigan-Cruz the nominal main event for that card? Duran-Sims, Hearns-Medal (stinker) then McGuigan-Cruz (replacement for Sosa)?

 

I'm not sure. I always thought Hearns headlined with McGuigan and Duran top of the undercard. I stand to be corrected on that though.

 

Same here mate. I just have the memory of McGuigan topping the card in his "coming out" party in America while Hearns stayed busy with Medal.

 

Not exactly "proof" but if being the fight in the middle counts for anything.....;O)
