Please put Jim "arrrrrum puncheeees" watt out to pasture.

Another terrible commentary performance last night from "former world champion" watt.

At one point he inexplicably said what macklin was doing was without thought! Errrm, obviously everything macklin did was a part of a master plan.

"why haven't we seen sturms jab?"

He just seems to lack any sort of analytical skills. Macklin gave him no space early on to implement his jab. Excellent tactics.

Then we had to endure round after round of repetitive **** from watt.

"the quality work coming from sturm"

I beg your pardon??!! One or two flashing combinations, whilst taking a good beating to the body from Irish matt? It's horrendous. Champion isn't much better.

Hbo have got it down well, lederman to talk about the points situation every three rounds, and the rest of the commentary team get on with talking about what's happening in the fight.

Us ****ers in Britain have to endure the constant drivel about how you can't get a decision in Germany and how close rounds will go to sturm blah blah blah. Every fight it's the same shite.

Sky need to "invest" in the future and bin off jim

I eventually muted the volume in disgust.

Tempting isn't it? I hold off on doing it though simply because the lack of crowd noise detracts from the event almost as much as watts commentary does.
At least they sent someone out to Germany to commentate live though rather than do it from a studio!
Sky still have some tweaking to do. Commentary team, and the 5 minute analysis after was no where enough time. Where were the post fight interviews? I suppose sky had to get wind surfing or something like that on quickly after.
Adam smith seems to care about bringing boxing back to the masses but boxing fans can see through poor production.

Apparently hbo last night was bias as **** towards Alexander so no, hbo havent got it down as well as you think.
As for Watt, well he seen the quality coming from Sturm before most, too many ppl jump on this bandwagon about Jim Watt being such a bad commentator without recommending anyone else, its a load of bollocks, yes Macklin was the guy comin forward throwing the most with some success but credit to Sturms` defence making Macklin hit his gloves for the last 6 doing no damage.
Reminded me of the DeLaHoya Mayweather fight where Floyds precision was enough to win the fight all the while getting hit on the arms by Oscar all night long. Same sketch.

O fair do's on the biased hbo coverage. But people don't get it right all the time. It's just that watt is consistently shite.
Everyone could see the fight for what it was apart from watt and apparently you. Macklin was putting so much pressure on sturm that sturm could only fight in short burst. Because macklin was throwing so many shots he was open to counter jabs and straight rights occasionally.
Pbf and odlh was similar but IMO there was no disputing the outcome and you couldn't say there was any real levels between macklin and sturm. We all knew some of the shots sturm was throwing were quality, there was no surprise there. The thing was that he was being limited in his output by macklins pressure. Sturm was trying to steal rounds whereas mack the knife was grabbing the rounds by the scruff of the neck with some extremely intelligent in fighting.
Credit to both boxers though hardly a clinch between them.
Most people can see watt for what he is "senile"

As ive said earlier i seen the fight with neutral eyes and Sturm done just enough to nick it. Understandably Macklin fans are devastated because it was so close and he fought well but Jim Watt is only saying what he is seeing and no bs. Out of the exchanges Sturm done more damage and threw less and paced the fight to almost perfection. Another few more seconds he could have ko`ed Macklin.

Ok pet, it's only opinions. I just fail to see how watt justifies what he says half the time.

Btw, no bias from me what so ever. Just saying it how I see it:good

These "**** Jim Watt" threads are hilarious....the bloke has forgotten more about boxing in the last 5 minutes than you ****s will ever know. Why don't the Mods just sticky a "**** Jim" thread and have done with it.

The worst I have heard from Watt was in the Haye v Valuev fight. Valuev did nothing that night bu Watt was talking as if he won the fight.

Last night I think he wasnt as bad as that but did seem to ignore how busy Macklin was even though Sturm landed some impressive shots.

Mate you need to get off his back, none of the commentaters are better than Jim,he will call a spade a spade,on many occasions hes tore shreads off scottish fighters unlike the english commentaters ( Woodhall if your not english your nothing,Nelson if your from Sheffield your a god ha ha).
With regards to Mathews body shots lots of them were hitting barms after the 4th round imo,so Jim was right to comment.
Mathew fought really really well but i fear the same result in any rematch.

I nearly didn't dignify ths with a reply, but I've got to say, who said anything about nationalities? Why is it a lot of scots on here seem to need to raise English v Scottish when one of their own is criticised? It doesn't matter a **** to me if watt is Scottish. I'm sure he calls what he thinks he's seeing a spade.
I guess you think mcewan has a shot against macklin or sturm now eh?

How many times does this have to be said?.....Watt was scoring the fight how he thought that the home town judges would see it, not how he personally felt the fight went....Jesus :-(.
