You don't score a fight on workrate, and you don't score a fight on aggression. They landed a similar number of punches throughout the fight but Sturm hit him harder and cleaner.

I had it 116-112. It pained me to give so many rounds to Sturm when Macklin was throwing twice as many punches, but you have to score the quality.

Theres no way you can score 7 of the last 8 for Sturm

I thought Jim Watts scorecard was perfect last night, should have been a draw

Im german and thought macklin just nicked it 115-113, however taking into account a certain hometown advantage any titleholder has a draw or a very close points win for sturm was not completely out of question, imo.

Theres no disputing macklin fired twice or more than twice the leather Sturm threw, but a pretty high percentage of those shots were absorbed by gloves and arms, he did score with good body punches though, when judging a workrate also take into account that the accuracy plays some part here too.

Sturm needs to fight him again

    A rematch is warranted.

Sturm says the rematch is happening in November. Thats all the proof anyone needs that he is a class act. How many fighters these days would just duck Macklin and move on to bigger paydays? Macklin needs another shot more than Sturm needs to give him one. I see round 2 being a much clearer Sturm victory. He had Macklins number by the end of the bout and was able to pick him off at will. Full props to Macklin for bringing it to the champ in Germany though, his workrate was impressive even if all the quality was coming from Sturm.

116:114 or 115:113 for Macklin and AT WORST a draw but nothing less.

Really hope Sturm gives him another go, in a neutral venue. I would fancy him in the rematch, he possibly took Macklin lightly.

I just scored each round and was not adding up during the fight. I totalled my scores at the end. I was hoping Macklin would get this, but even on my card I came up with 115-113 to Sturm. Could have had it 114-114 even or 115-113 Macklin. It was that kinda fight.

You don't score fights on just tucking up tight and takings power punches on the gloves and arms all night either, even if you are occasionally coming back with a few decent cleaner punches.

Doesn't matter where you're from.. Macklin got robbed. 2 of the judges scoring it 8 rounds to 4 in favour of Sturm is inexcusable and an insult.

The stupidest thing is how the criteria for what wins judges over changes to favour the hometown fighter every time.

When BJ Flores outboxes Danny Green in Australia.. Green gets the nod because "he's the one forcing the fight a bit more and doing more work."

When Matthew Macklin outworks Felix Sturm in Germany.. Sturm gets the decision because "well he did the better work"

When Lucas Matthysse outboxes, outworks and hurts Devon Alexander in America.. Alexander gets the decision because "he's Devon Alexander"

It's bull**** and the last thing it needs is idiotic fans agreeing with it.

I had it 115-113 Sturm. Rematch should be a must, got a feeling it wont happen though.
