How keen an eye do you have for a diamond in the rough?

Within seconds of watching Andre Ward in an amateur fight in Ireland several years ago, I knew he'd be doing exactly what he's doing now.

 

I seen Khan a number of times in the amateurs, I predicted he could go far in the Olympics, even though he was still an unknown to the majority.

But overall, I haven't had great success in picking out "diamonds".

 

I predicted that Haye would hold titles at both cruiserweight and heavyweight after the Glen Kelly fight, when he was still in disrepute after the Thompson loss.

I was a Darnel Wilson fan after the Khalid Jones fight, before he became an ESB legend and scored one of the best knockouts ever-

Im pleased to have picked Froch as a world beater after only two or three pro fights.

 

I suppose thinking that Audley Harrison was a future linear world champion based on his fight with Richel Hersisia counts as getting it wrong. atsch

 

I don't think much about it actually, after a fight I almost never think... "Well that guy looks promising", until it's actually pretty obvious.

I'm more the guy that constantly thinks (or get frustrated by) what a novice boxer should do when he's fighting, and actually find it natural when they do the right things (with their build) instead of making the mistakes.

I would be a very bad novice trainer also I guess, because I expect them to do most things right from the start.

 

only been watching boxing since 2004.

I've seen a LOT of boxers with potential just not get promoted correctly.

I should hang around the Las Vegas amateur circuit more..
