Here is how I scored Alexander-Mathysse after watching this fight a third time.......

Sad that Matthyse won't get a rematch againster either Alexander or Judah. May aswell go back to Argentina and KO bums the rest of his career

 

Could have gone either way but I think I slightly favored Mathysse. Hardly a robber IMO. Even though Mathysse was landing harder punches that appeared to have more impact on his opponent, he was getting hit with a lot of punches in bunches.

 

True, he was getting hit with a lot of punches to the gloves. I need to watch it again but I don't remember any good neck snapping or thudding body shots inflicted by DA. Nada. A couple times DA flummoxed LM with his movement but he failed to capitalize in any meaningful way. Then again, I've always been biased in favor of damage rather than activity and worse, "ring generalship."

 

No genius if Alexander wins six rounds the final score would be 96-95 Alexander, lucas would have won 4 rounds giving him 4 points with an extra point for the kd which gives him 5 points to six....

 

I had the same, minus round 1 to Alexander.

One could make an argument, not a great one, but an argument about round 10 to Alexander, getting 7-3 Alexander.. I gave the 10th to LM.. thus 6-4 with the KD.

Alexander also won the round he got KD in, but not enough to make it 10-9. Outside the KD, he would have won that round.

People tend to score 1 or 2 solid shots over steady work throughout a round. Also Alexander did pretty good to flurry at the end of rounds, thus stealing close ones.

 

I was there at the fight. Had great seats and even sat next to the trainer of Gerald Nobles, the trainer of Pascal, and Pascal himself before he got a text inviting him down to ringside which he took. Here are my thoughts:

Coyne is an overrated hypejob who doesnt deserve a title shot, cant punch, and would get his ass handed to him by even the old over weight Guillermo Jones.

Cory Spinks is a great guy but hes a lot slower than he used to be. Ashanti tried to quit in the first round after a hard bodyshot (which was incorrectly ruled a low blow) but then gutted it out and actually gave Spinks a workout. I think Spinks could have and should have put him away if he had opened up but he either wouldnt or couldnt.

Bundridge-Powell had potential to be the best fight on the card but it was pretty poor. Bundridge did all the work while Powell waited. Very winable fight for Powell but he simply wasnt active enough.

Ray Austin was giving Stiverne hell before finally getting stopped. I think they should have let it go a bit longer but Austin was definately rocked. I think Stiverne needs a lot of work before he goes challenging for a title. Id say a good ten fights. Hes barely ESPN quality IMO. He was slow, small, and very one dimensional. He burned up a shitload of energy with useless head and hand movement.

I have no problem with Alexander beating Matthyse. He was outboxing Matthyse most of the fight and even in the round he got knocked down he pretty much dominated before and after. Matthyse was always in his face and always ready to rumble which I give him credit for. The guy never took a backward step, and often times this catches the eye of some people, but Alexander was more effective in more rounds. People crying robbery are ****ing ******ed. It was a close fight and that was reflected in the scorecards, how is that a robbery?

Michael Lunsfords fat ass should be ashamed to call himself a professional athlete. He came in in the 270s or 280s with bigger tits than Jane Mansfield, sporting an 0-4 record (now 0-5), fighting out of Kentucky or Tennessee (which tells you all you need to know) and put on the worst impersonation of a fighter Ive ever seen to pad a young prospects first win...



Pascal's trainer was a real nice guy. He said that they are looking to get right back into the mix by fighting either Cloud or Shumenov. They said Shumenov had already agreed to terms but that Cloud is more difficult to deal with because of Don King. They would rather have Cloud but Im guessing they will go with Shumenov. I asked Pascal if he was there to scout Cloud and he said he was there because he was a fan of boxing, which may be true but he was there to scout Cloud LOL.

Roy Jones and Prince Badi Ajamu are in negotiations for a rematch. I doubt it will go anywhere but thats the scoop.

Coyne was initially supposed to defend his regional title against another cruiserweight whose name I forget. They had an agreement and when Coyne was suddenly announced as an opponent for G. Jones the lawyers got involved. Next thing you know Jones has an "injury" and Coyne is fighting a last minute sub. I dont really understand what all is going on behind the scenes but apparently King wants Coyne-Jones badly and is trying to buy time to match those two and fend off possible legal action from the other Coyne fight he sunk.

If it wasn't a robbery then how come everybody knew who was going to get the "close" decision before the scores even came out?

 

Round 1 could easily have gone to Matthysse
