Tough one, I know Ilm gonna get a lot of flack for this but if Haye Beats Wlad... maybe Haye. If Ortize upsets Floyd then def. Ortiz. If no one scores an upset I say... Donaire of Khan if Khan beats Judah.

They evaluate combat sports in general, not just boxing.

Because it's FIGHTER of the year. Not boxer of the year. Also Floyd wins it because it's mostly a popularity contest and who's more popular than Floyd in America when it comes to MMA and boxing.

In the one year from ESPY to ESPY (365 days from 37 days from today), my vote is easy:

    Giovani Segura
    4-0, KO 4

KO 8 Ivan Calderon (Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year)
    RTD 7 Manuel Vargas
    KO 3 Ivan Calderon II
    TKO 1 Eddy Zuniga

After typing this up, I kind of think it is a no brainer...

Honorable mentions to Sergio and Hopkins. Honestly, a guy like Ricky Burns, should he beat Nicky Cook in less than three weeks, would be 4-0 in the year that is being voted on for the ESPY. He'd probably be my 3rd or 4th place guy.

Their 365 days being analyzed is different than January-December like The Ring and all other annual awards.

So for last years ESPY, for example, Mayweather had both his fights with Marquez and Mosley compared to Pacquiao's Cotto and Clottey. Understandable, no? It's all about the time span being monitored. For instance, this year, I think it is Segura no brainer...

Would you pick Floyd to beat an MMA fighter in an open rules fight though?

I would pick any boxer to win a boxing match, but in a one on one bar fight?

I feel you on this. A lot of times when you fight somebody and it goes to the ground, the people around you will break it up and make you guys stand up anyways

Actually ESPY is a public voting contest, means anyone can spam vote to get a winner.

It's a fight. You do whatever to win.

Where do you get this 60% boxer beats an MMA guy in the cage stuff at?

They're assuming you don't have access to weapons either.

I said one on one as the criteria because if you're getting the better of someone on the ground, there's nothing to stop one say Ellebre coming up and kicking an MMA guy's teeth out of their face when you're on the ground.

But 60% of the time a boxer is going to be able to deal with a leg kick or a take down and someone with ground experience????

    Come on.

Though Sylvia Mercer is a good example of the above being the case for a good HW!!!
