Hello just a liitle info on ABA amateur boxing titles in 2011. Nsw 23rd 24th 25th of september Qld 2nd 3rd 4th of december Act 5th of november. Now as for the other states there web sites were not as helpful. These aba amateur boxing titles are the start of the road for any boxer wanting to represent his or her country so i hope that all boxers aba or abl are aiming for these dates. Wouldnt it be great if the aba and abl would join up as one team for the better of australian boxers at the end of the day the boxers are the only ones loosing out.
If the dates you have mentioned are for state titles, I would guess that they are not accurate. The winners of State titles usually represent their state at the OZ titles and therefore need to be held in the same year as the upcoming Oz titles. If they are not held in the same year it will cause problems with fighters who for example win Youth (u19) state title this year but the following year when oz title are on are a year older and not elegible to compete in the youths div. anymore.
ABL fighters cant enter, to be eligable for ABA state titles you need to have already fought in the ABA. They dont let just anyone walk off the street and enter the state titles. 2011 Oz titles was a selection process for the 2011 Elite World Championships. The Elite World Championships is PART of the selection process for the 2012 Olympic games
You are right Catch22, ABA 2011 Australian Titles WERE held already (March) and were a selection event for the AIBA World Championships being held this September/October. The World Championships provide a "fast track" to Olympic selection if qualifying boxers finish in the top 8 in their division. The ABA 2012 Australian Championships will be held in Tassie Feb 2012. This event will be a selection event for the 2012 Oceania Championships, which is also a qualifying event for the 2012 Olympics. Boxing Australia website has a "Calendar" section with all event details.
i hear the league (ABL) titles are being held on the central coast this year, first time being held in nsw for quite a while...
whats the go with state titles? how often are they on? how many fights must a fighters have to challenge?
Any amateur boxer can fight in the nsw aba or abl titles doesnt mater how many fights they have had any fighter can fight in the elite class The abl titles only have one class to compete in the aba have 4 classes to compete in with the eliete class being the best in nsw
how about olympic and c'wealth games? Im guessing there is a certain amount of fights required to qualifiy?
They are held once a year. You must be registerd with said body to enter and your best bet is to have atleast a hand full of fights with them before you try to enter the titles. I dont know if they have changed the rules but you did have to have a min amount of fights before you were eligable to enter ABA state titles, this may have changed now. you also cant really challenge, you just enter your name and it goes into a draw then bouts are matched this way. There is no system in amateurs that forces a title holder to defend his title, even if you defeat the current champ that doesnt make you the new champ in amateurs. you have to win the entire state titles, win the final and then your the champ. dont bother with league your wasting your time and your fighters time unless you want them to be nothing more than club fighters.
