Soto retains WBC belt

WBC lightweight world champion Humberto Soto (56-7-2, 32 KOs) won a ten round technical decision over #11 rated challenger Motoki Sasaki (36-9, 23 KOs) on Saturday night at the Parque Andres Quintana Roo in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Soto dropped Sasaki in round five and was far ahead of the scorecard when he slipped on a wet ring floor and suffered a leg injury. Scores were 100-88, 99-89, 99-89. Soto made the fourth defense of his lightweight title.

That looked painful. Hopefully just a pulled muscle and not a knee injury.

he landed on his left knee the hardest but he rolls around holding his right knee?... either way, hope the injury isn't too serious.

Pacquaio bribed the referee, who placed a banana peel in the precise spot that Soto stepped on to make sure that Soto is now permanently crippled by the slip. DAMN that dastardly Filipino!!!

Obviously Soto was way ahead on the cards, but can someone tell me how in the hell the fight goes to the cards when Soto suffers an injury thats no fault of Sasaki?

Is it in the rulebooks that a fight goes to the cards when a fighter suffers any type of injury?
