I don think Fernando can make 118lbs anymore..He did come in weighing 134lbs when he fought Nonito, and there had already been reports from his camp that he was having trouble making weight.

Strangely I didn't watch anything from that fight other than the KO. Did Donaire dominate the short time the fight went or did he just catch him with that amazing punch? I'm not saying it was lucky before people jump on that.

didnt watch it? Heck, just Youtube it - im sure its there

Donaire remarkedly dominated the 1st round. It was obvious that he was the taller, faster, stronger fighter. He countered about EVERYTHING Montiel dared to throw. One counter caught Montiel bad and made him gunshy for the rest of the round.

The 2nd round, Montiel seemed to relax a bit and starting to land on Donaire. Donaire tried a loaded counter hook which missed. But the next time, it crushed in Montiel's head.

In the post-fight interview, Donaire admittedly said that he was letting Montiel open up on him to see what he was going to give him. I trust that was the case, considering that he delivered a ridiculously crushing counter in that same round....

Donaire won the first round with Flashy counters. Then Montiel pressed the action in the 2nd it looked like he was tagging

runito but then BOOM! a lightening left hook came out of no where it was all a set up.

Montiel was predictable if you think about it.

He jabs and not a hard jab, what's after a JAB? the right and Donaire timed that right and MONEY.This kid

Donaire is reading your every movement and pattern.

I remember trying to stay awake to watch it but being over here it's on at silly times for us then the next day the KO was all over youtube so I just watched that.

In that case then I don't think there is much case for a rematch anytime soon, I thought maybe Montiel had done alright for the first part and just got caught but obviously not.

  6. I don't believe Montiel has the antidote for Nonito's counter left hook. He should target Arce instead.

I'd give Montiel a chance in a rematch.

Not happening, or at least very unlikely since Fernando's dad trains both him and Arce i believe.

Montiel got balls but a rematch....would be a candidate for "Suicide of the Year"

Montiel should be more of a star. Guy just takes on everyone and either KOs or gets KOd.

I think should he pick up a belt at 122 and become relevant there he deserves a rematch.

Once again Donaire left out in the cold after a big win. This guys career might become one of those what ifs.

In all honesty, sometimes i begin to think that Nonito will one day get fed up with this whole bull**** he's going through, and will quit the boxing game and dedicate his time being a photographer....would be a real shame, but wouldnt suprise me in the least bit.

Usually a rematch is set after an exciting and close fight, but i dont see much sense about another fight after the way Montiel was brutalized in a few minutes.each men should fight people their size, Montiel shoudnt go up in weight and Nonito should go after bigger guys and names.

Donaire is just too big and quick for Montiel and the fight proved that, having a rematch will not change that.
