Which was the better win: LEWIS vs Tyson or CALZAGHE vs Hopkins?

Tyson was washed up. His heart wasn't in boxing anymore.

 

I think if you look at what those opponents have accomplished since, it's a pretty easy question to answer.

 

This is the most ******ed poll iv ever seen on this forum and anyone that voted for lewis Tyson doesnt know boxing.

A poll that would make sense would be Calzaghe vs Jones....as both Jones and Tyson were shot to pieces.

Hopkins remains Calzaghes best win.

It amazes me that anyone actually takes Lewis's win over a zombie Tyson seriously. I give him no credit....the same way I give Joe zero credit for beating up a shot Jones.

Yes Tyson was shot to pieces, but in terms of an actual win over their opponent, Lewis' was by far more comprehensive. You could debate the Hopkins-Calzaghe scoring until your blue in the face.

Im not a Calzaghe fan, but saying thats his best win is absurd. The way he dismantled Lacy was by far more impressive than his SD 'win' over Hopkins.

Very true, but it depends on how you want to look at it. I think having a TKO win over a shot Tyson stands out on your career record better than a much debated SD over Hopkins.

 

Lewis-Tyson because Lewis actually won, Calzaghe didn't, he also dominated him and Tyson wasn't as far gone is made out, past his best but still had enough to decimate Golota a couple of years earlier

Maybe there's factors that people aren't considering when deciding which is better. Like the manner of victory and actually questioning the result (in their view rather than what 2 judges thought)

It's like what better alexanders win against matthyse or khan win against Barrera. Argument can be made against both those wins, it's not the same as the example above. But if people truly believe calzaghe was fortunate to have the decision as the fight was not a conclusive win whereas Lewis most famous decisive win is against a past it Tyson... That win went a long way forming his legacy.

Whereas IMO calzaghe win left more questions about calzaghe, like how would he have faired with elite fighters earlier in his career. For me it was a close fight but it didn't cement anything. It showed he could mix it at that level but was not willing to rematch for whatever reasons.

So calzaghe win was against a better opponent relatively speaking, but it wasn't a better win in terms of achievement and remembering it as a signature fight. Lewis will be remembered for knocking out his closest rivals, it could be argued this was calzaghes worst performance.

 

Its incredible you call Lewis beating up a shot Tyson a legacy forming fight....So I guess you think Calzaghe's win over Jones cemented his legacy?

Performance is relative to the quality of the opponent when they fought.

Tyson was finished. Hopkins was still a p4p level fighter which he has gone on to prove.

The flaw in your argument is that you view Lewis's win over Tyson as relevant when 99% of boxing fans realise it wasnt.
