Everything I've ever seen, read or heard about Teddy Atlas tells me that the guy is an absolute cretin of the very, very highest calibre. How he has actually lived this long is truly astounding to me.

Do you know that he does large amounts of charity work, and even has a charity foundation named after his father?

I don't think Atlas is a bad guy, he's just a bit of an ego maniac who likes things only done his way. When he gets mad he tends to lose control of himself a little but he does know boxing he's just too over the top for me. He was good for Moorer because Moorer is a loose cannon himself but I think he was a little scared of Atlas.

Know he did time in Rikers Island, mentioned in his book what happened when some guy wanted to take his sneakers.Unfortunately, his brother didn't seem to have fared as well when he went to Rikers.....

I was waiting for someone to mention this. Teddy is a good guy who's lived a tough life. Considering all the obstacles, I think he's doing pretty well.

It's been said already but it does seem like Atlas believed that Foreman's act was a fake and that he was still very much the same man who had a reputation for meanness and a short temper in the 1970's. He felt everyone was buying into Foreman being this jolly old "teddy bear" and that he would expose Foreman's true personality to all the world, and especially to Moorer, who wasn't quite taking the old man seriously enough. But it would have taken a lot more than a bit of trashtalk and a few shoves to get Foreman going. Foreman's fellow commentators Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant got a lot closer. :good

I remember Foreman saying once, as Merchant in usual fashion was questioning a boxer's heart, that in his younger days he would not have taken those words lightly and implied that he would have beaten him up. Nonetheless Foreman developed a great self-control over the years, and to my knowledge hasn't once resorted to violence since the 70's except in the prize ring.

I've heard from more than one person that he's still a ***** when the press and cameras aren't around. I agree with Atlas in that his whole comeback big teddy bear act thing is a fake, but George has pulled it off masterfully and has turned it into millions and millions of dollars.

Foreman isn't going to blow that type of potential money just because some guy with a temper problem gave him a light push and yelled at him a little.

I think most men who feel he's a ***** are those whom he refused to fight during his comeback, or Jim Lampley & Larry Merchant. Foreman himself admitted though that he often acted like a fool on air and didn't always know what he was talking about, but he was getting paid to talk.

Aside from that I've rarely heard criticism for him, just the opposite. I believe he's a man like anybody else but clearly he feels that being positive is much more of a recipe for success than being mean and surly as he was in his younger days.

If he was a fake he wouldnt have been able to control himself there, or when kids were throwing stuff at him during the Golota fight or when Merchant constantly jabbed at him. Foreman definitely evolved into a more mature person who learned that he was in fact the one winning, when he cashed his checks. All that other stuff is bull**** and you do tend to realize that when you get older.

When the media cameras are off, and the press isn't around, I understand that Foreman and Holyfield are pricks, while Holmes and Tyson are pretty cool. (Apparently, we did get a glimpse of Tyson's off camera personality in that emotional clip with Nick Charles. It looks as though Mike's inner demons have fled the coop.)

The two people I heard from are both just boxing fans, nothing more. Both said how stuck up he was and he refused either of them autographs. Both of these people met him at different times on different days and have never met one another. The one said that George was actually a bit rude towards him and the other said the George basically told him to **** off.

I can't really stick up for either person as I don't know either of them. Both of them had the same opinion about George though and were treated in a similar way, so I'd imagine they were telling the truth and not just taking shots at George.

I'd be able to take all of the abuse in the world if I knew/thought it'd help me put large sums of money in the bank.

    Another good post.
We all learn as we get older that certain things we used to believe and do were bull****. Foreman evolved as a person and i don't think anyone can say he hasn't.
