Julian Jackson, Gerald McClellan, or Thomas Hearns - Who Hit Harder?

Tommy Hearns at 147 was punching as hard as guys who were 200 pounds. I don't see a case for Joe Louis being the p4p hardest puncher. P4P I think Tyson was a harder puncher than Joe Louis.

 

Funny then how his power tapered as went up in weight. I mean, who was the last best guy he KO'd? A shopworn Andrew Maynard?

 

PFP Langford was probably the hardest puncher(a lightweight moving up and still ko'ing hvys!) but I feel people are sleeping on the fact that Hearns started at 147 and moved up to ko people regardless whether how often or how early he did it. His ko over Duran far impresses me over any ko JJ or G-man did. Better puncher out of the bunch was Hearns and that means more than being the hardest. JJ might have hit harder but Hearns was a sharper puncher and a better fighter. Hearns might have hit harder out of the bunch though, who knows?

 

All great punchers. All of em. Julians and hearns are more proven but McClellan's is about as good as you could get imo. I think Jackson has the best punch though. Just more shocking i think.

Maybe a 200 lb guy with no ability to throw a punch! Hearns was not hitting that hard. You're telling me he had a punch just as powerful as a guy with 53 lbs on him? I call bull****.

Well, for one thing Julian Jackson was heavier than Tommy Hearns for most of their careers. Second, the title of the thread is who hit harder - not who the sharper or better puncher is.

Definitely. But we must not forget that Jackson almost certainly looked like a more devastating puncher than either McClellan or Hearns.

I'm not stating my opinion as fact, but what it looked like. To me, Jackson was clearly there harder puncher of the three.

 

But I only see threads saying who hit harder, not who's sharper and I'm quite sick of it is all. As far as who hit harder? JJ looked more devastating but Hearns was a better/smarter fighter and that means more. This obsession with "1 hit ko power" is a lost cause as a puncher's job is to get rid of their opponent and Tommy did that for the most part. Tommy always could hit but I'm not sure about him hitting as hard as a hvy his whole career lol. Hopefully you see where I'm coming from.

Mclellan was a giant puncher and hit just as hard as those guys. Just because he didnt face the same opposition doesnt mean much. You talk to Emanuel Steward he will tell you Gerald hit harder than Hearns.
