Well, there was the time he just bolted across the ring and shoved the than vauted Kirkman to the ground with a bullrush. Kirkman was so shaken mentally and physically after the opening ambush, he never got going. That's Kirkman's fought for not being mentally tougher but that was a strategic foul from Foreman against a dangerous fighter.

 

Sharkey was another who sometimes did what Hopkins has. Immediately after the bell ending round six with Dempsey, the Mauler dropped his gloves and faced his corner. (The bell rang when they were near Dempsey's corner of the ring.) Angry over Dempsey's fouling, Sharkey sucker cuffed Dempsey from behind in anger with his right, glaring over his shoulder as he headed across the ring to his own corner. Dempsey didn't react at all in any way, not even giving an indication of turning his head back, as if it didn't happen. (Imagine any fighter behaving like that today!)

To Sharkey's credit, he did say after the controversial ending that, "It's all just part of the game." Decades later, KO Magazine decreed Sharkey to be the dirtiest HW Champion in history, something he probably took pride in, if he was anything like Filthy Fritzie.

As for Dempsey, he was the sole judge as well as referee when he awarded a 20 round decision to Uzcudun over Max Baer. When Maxie asked him why, Jack relied, "Because he did a better job of fouling than you did, Max!"

Randy Cobb understood Dempsey's ethic. As Tex said, "We're in there to raise hell, and the referee's only there to count to ten!" (Of course, that was before he challenged Holmes, during which he looked at referee Steve Crosson and said, "You're white. Help me!")

 

I think it entirely possible English is not High Guard's first language.
I also think it entirely possible Martian is.

 

Foreman did it in a very subtle way like some guys clinch. Hearns used to put his jab in guys face to measure them. All fighters have something like someone said, which is not legal. It works if it is not done blatantly.

Well I'd take a chance on those two, as long as they didn't start to take off their faces and reveal a row of pointed fangs etc.
