Listen, I'm just trying to explain why myself, and probably a good number of non-bias people are not as pumped for this fight as they should have been.

Make the fight at 140 and be competitive. I still consider myself a fan of Pac but there should be no catch weight if you can make the weight.

147 is Pac's preferred/ideal weight. Marquez needs & wants this fight more than Pac so obviously he'll have to compromise. Manny could have demanded 147 if he'd wanted to. Manny has no shortage of people wanting to fight him. Why would he go out of his way to fight someone he's already beat?

i can see your point but put yourself in Pac's shoes... he's gonna train to fight back down at 140 against JMM and then possibly face Mayweather in his next fight back at 147. It's like shooting yourself in the foot to play with your weight like that. Even if he can make 140 easily he still has to change the way he trains

Yeah I can see your point too PH|LLA regarding Floyd. It's a shame though because the 1st two pac - jmm fights were great. don't think this'll be anywhere near as close.

Suppose it's JMM chasing the money with Pac and Floyd and taking the fight no matter what.

Money is'nt the issue here. Marquez has been chasing Pacquiao ever since he was robbed the second time.....

.....its a fight Marquez preferred at 140 lbs knowing Pacquiao could easily make that weight.....but fairness is not in the cards here with Pacquiao calling the shots.

The fight is still a ways a way, so I think fans will get excited about the 3rd fight when it gets a bit closer.

Btw, with Mosley, most every educated fan knew Mosley was done as a top tier fighter. Thats not the case here with Marquez, thought the weight is an issue that could have been set to be more fair.

The circumstance is this. Marquez is a lightweight moving up two weight divisions to face a Pacquiao who is a PED user who can make 140 lbs, but will have the advantage from his PED use to be able to add the extra few pounds to allow his body to be more comfortable at welter than he otherwise would be.

In any regards, Marquez is much the more credible opponent to Pacquiao than a faded Mosley showed in his fights leading to the Pacquiao fight.

Skillset, know how, and stamina, are all things that Marquez still has alot of, and which can still be used to trouble if not beat the PED user alltogether.

The rematch should have happened much sooner, but Pacquiao put himself in this position that now sees Marquez with a free play downfield that may leave every ******* in the face of the earth in tears!:yep

    Guerra Marquez!:bbb

You're absolutely right, 147 lbs is not Pacquiao's ideal weight against a true welter like Mayweather, but against a lightweight like Marquez and the benefit of PED's, its more than ideal, its perfect!

Two lightweights contracted to fight at welter. One has the benefit of getting up in weight using PED's, the other does'nt use PED's.
Guess who will acclamate himself to the weight better?:hey

You dont need to pretend this is'nt the case PH|LLA when you and every ******* on this board know damn well it is.:deal

I know that Juanma has been chasing the fight a long time, but you can't deny that this will be a HUGE pay day for him - and he probably didn't grumble as much about the weight because of it.

What happened when he was happy to accept money when Floyd pulled that move confirmed it for me.

Most of us said fight Marquez right after the controversial 2nd fight but Team Pacquiao refused then. He didn't fight a prime Hatton, a regining champ Oscar, a prime Cotto or world WW champ Mosley, these fights always happened when the name opponent was on the slide compared to a year or two before, and JMM is the next one in line. Absolutely PATHETIC!

My counter-question: where are all the Pacfans who shouted at Martinez to stop picking on 'smaller men' when he only wanted to challenge Pac for Pac's LMW belt at LMW - shouldn't now they give Pacquiao **** for picking on a lightweight that was completely dominated at welterweight - by Mayweather?

Not really a good analogy, considering that Pac doesn't have a history of successfully fighting toe-to-toe with Martinez.

EDIT: Also, Marquez has weighed in the 140's come fight night. How often has Pac ever come in at 150+?

I see what you're trying, so how about this: Martinez went toe to toe with Margarito at WW and got knocked out. Pac dominated Margarito. So...

And Martinez has gotten better since that fight with Margarito, good enough that he'd even give Pac problems at 154, let along 160. I'm a casual fan, and even I know this.
