Haye fans : explain why him winning is good for the sport please?

    Christ, it's like a chimps tea-party in here. Practically drowning in hyperbole. Or is everyone just on the WUM?

    If Haye wins and retires without fighting Vitali then we can all conclude that he wasn't the saviour of the division and was only in it for the money. That would be massively disappointing but it remains a possibility, especially after the Fraudley farce. If Haye retires then Wlad would be first in line to fight A. N. Fat Bloke for the abandoned belts and we'd be right back to square one.

    That said, as other posters have pointed out it is almost de rigueur for boxers to "fake" their own retirement. It's standard practice to add extra spice (and kerching) to your "last fight". Or - to put it another way, it's just the usual PR cr*p that we have to put up with in boxing. Don't believe a word that any boxer says.......

    To address the original post, you only need to look at HBO / America's view of the heavyweight scene right now. That isn't just because they have no decent fighters anymore, it's because the Klits are utterly and totally boring. Seriously, just look at any major heavyweight fight from the 80's / 90's and you will see x5 more movement, skill and excitement. The Klits have only two punches in their respective arsenals - JAB and THE BIG RIGHT HAND. Wow - such variety. Combine that with a massive reach advantage and you get serious boredom.

    The fact that HBO are only interested in seeing Haye tells you all you need to know.........

    Not with his current fighting style he won't... maybe if he returns to his CW fightingstyle.

    It's not ignored at all, they're valid points, but that's under premise Haye continues to fight in the division. Which is why I ask the question in the first place -- Why would you want a guy who's talking about retirement in a few months as king of the division?
