Kessler didn't retire.

 

This is not ganna end well, unfortunately.

 

What did he do then?

 

Took time off for an eye injury. He never said he'd retired, just that he wouldn't be fit to box before the next round of Super 6 fights.

Then coincidentally came back around the time he couldn't be called back to the Super Six, it's all to predictable, just like it was obvious Taylor would be back too at some time.

Call me an old cynic if you like.

Problem with Taylor was he was never quite good enough to justify the stock HBO put in him. They put a bit too much pressure on him really and it all fell apart starting with Pavlik, who he really wasn't expected to lose to. He was the one before Berto.

He still had some ability but the problem is he keeps finding ways to get knocked out and his psyche is probably badly dented by now.

 

You get no cynic points for spotting that boxers who retire sometimes come back and fight again. Thats as old as the sport itself and doesn't really have anything to do with the Super 6.

Froch was more than a bit classless on that issue. Kessler withdrew from the Super 6 (didn't retire) but told Froch in confidence that he didn't know if he'd fight again because of the eye.

Then Froch gave that interview bragging that he'd retired Kessler......not Frochs finest hour IMHO.

 

What were his last two fights? Froch an AA?

On points he won most of the fight against Froch to be fair.

His performance, even before the KO, against AA was pretty poor though, especially given how other fighters so clearly dismantled AA pretty easily at SMW.

 

Well, Gaz, you have your opinions on the issue, I have mine. You appear to take as gospel what's pumped out of these boxing camps, I question some of it, that's just the way it goes. As to who's right, we'll never know.

 

Taylor is a decent fighter but i reallydouby his ability to make 160safely the bloke is enormous must walk around at 200ish. He seemed to struggle making SMW. It wont end well its going to be a few wins then a big fight and most likely a knockout loss.

 

if he avoids martinez, he could do quite well at middle i think. Could we see an AA rematch...? I hope not anyway, Arthurs power at middle was very dangerous

 

He was tanking badly toward the end of some of his fights.

Those two late stoppages couldn't have put his boxing mind in a great place.

 

Whats to take as gospel? Kessler took a break for an eye injury and Taylor retired and then, shock horror, changed his mind like many (most??) boxers do at some point......Its pretty bland as conspiracy theories go.


Lets be honest the facts surrounding Kessler don't fit in with your pet theory and in the case of Taylor its not as if you've make some clever connection with him retiring and the Super 6. He's just another in a loooong line of boxers who retire and then comeback again.

Not digging anything, I'm just giving my opinion, you just have to accept that it differs to yours and the fact of the matter is, yours is no more right or wrong than mine.
