But it seems all he has, is a plan to change the referee. Booth obviously thinks a "stronger referee", will penalize Wlad when he holds inside or leans on Haye, so his claim that they have something up their sleeve to negate that, might just be hot air, just reverse psychology.

yeah its just mind games, I figure they must have some tricks to keep wlad from holding and to avoid his jab.

  3. if this is true why are they bitching about the referee that was assigned and are crying that if they dont get pabon they wont put up hayes belt, pabon is the referee from the ward abraham fight who didnt allow any clinching at all not that i wanna watch wrestling but a little clinching is neccesary at times

Yeah, I doubt it's going to be anything special. Probably just use their feet and agility to not get caught under.

They'll complaining about Wlad's leaning, but you can bet your house that Haye's rabbit-punching will be at full force on the night.

They would have studied every Waldo fight meticulously.. maybe they found something to exploit or maybe it is just mind games.... we shall find out.

One thing is for sure though is that David Haye is way more calculated than he is being given credit for.

Well that's what I thought Booth was referring to when he said they had something up their sleeve.

If Wlad wants to clench (grab), then he is going to clench(grab). His clench is as fast as his jab. He's like an octopus.

those british clowns bitching about Wlad clinching ,but haye is famous for his rabbit punching ,so I don't think fair referee would be any good for Haye.

How many other boxers have claimed to have something for this? Watch some of his videos on youtube. He throws out that jab, and then he's all over you like a spider ******, before you have a chance to back away. Also, clenching is part of boxing. Anyone who disagrees, can look it up.

Clinch is spelled with an i instead of an e. My bad.

Holding is illegal in boxing, clenching is certainly not allowed (other than fists of course), .... a certain amount of clinching is allowable within the rules however :thumbsup

That comedy duo Johnny Nelson and Glenn McCrory were suggesting earlier today during a workout in a square in Hamburg that when Wlad holds and pushs down on Haye, Haye will respond by sticking on a blindside shot in the nuts....not within the rules obviously, but neither is leaning on.

What they "have" is what they're doing now - complaining so much about Wlad's ugly tactics and drawing so much attention to it ahead of time that it makes Wlad self-conscious and hesitant about doing it.

Wlad knows he can beat Haye, but this is more than just about beating Haye. He knows that this is the biggest, most well-publicized fight he will EVER be in.

There's objective greatness - setting/breaking records, extremely rare achievements, etc., but then there's subjective greatness - being great because the public SAYS you're great. Wlad WANTS to be subjectively great, and he knows that the opportunities to establish that kind of greatness are limited in a division as weak as today's HW division. Aside from establishing objective greatness through a long reign (which he arguably has already achieved), THIS is going to be his ticket to subjective greatness in the eyes of the public. He knows he has to beat Haye AND look great doing it. He NEEDS a defining fight to capture the imagination, and only Haye can give him the audience to do that.

Everything Wlad does and says in the lead up to this fight has been and will be scrutinized, and if Haye is out there calling him a boring grabbing fighter, Wlad figures people are going to be looking for that and malign his victory if that is the reason why he beats Haye. By Haye drawing that level of attention to those tactics, he hopes Wlad will rely less on it, which will give Haye more opportunities to dart in and out throughout the fight. If Wlad takes that bait, and abandons the gameplan to please the public and prove Haye wrong, then Haye will have successfully negated Wlad's jab-n-grab.

Haye will try to move to the side and stay very mobile if he thinks Wlad is clinching to smother his shots.
