His series against Father Time. I don't know how he does it but he usually gets the better of him.

I voted for Pavlik because at the time few were giving Hopkins a chance in hell- and as you put it "derailed Pavlik" after that. Very impressive win at the time and he titally dominated Kelly.

FYI, these were roughly the odds for each fight.

    Tarver - Hopkins 3/1 underdog
    Pavlik - Hopkins 3/1 underdog
    Trinidad - Hopkins 4/1 underdog
    Pascal - Hopkins 2.5/1 underdog

I amy sound crazy but I don't think he gets enough credit for beating Trinidad. People always say it's one of the best clinics if not the best clinic of the decade but Trinidad was a beast right before Hopkins and people forget that. He also had a belt and ko'd the young Vargas & won a MW eliminator tournament in order to fight Hopkins in the first place. He may have been smaller but he packed a punch and Hopkins ate them and ruined Trinidad. Hopkins was seen as the older fighter who was the stepping stone for greater things for Tito but life didn't happen like that for him.

    Define "best."

For me, Pascal & no question about it.

Not only did Hopkins set an all-time, inspirational record, but he did it with a more aggressive & enjoyable-to-watch style than we've ever seen from hi before. Amazing.

It was the Tarver fight, though that will obviously be the least popular choice here because there is not a single Tarver nuthugger on ESB (unlike the other options). :rofl

I will point out that Tarver was not the best LHW in the world. He notoriously ducked Adamek, avoided Paul Briggs before him, and was thoroughly schooled by Dawson shortly thereafter, twice.

I don't know if you will ever find another fight between two "elite" fighters where one fighter displayed pretty much everything there is to display in boxing. Hopkins showed everything that night.

Clearly you haven't seen much tape from Hopkins' younger years.

Tarver was without a doubt considered the best LHW in the world at the time. He had fought Harding, Griffin, Jones 3X and Johnson 2X in seven straight fights before fighting Hopkins. And i had him beating Johnson both times and he nearly beat Jones 3 times.

And he fought Dawson 2+ years after his loss to Hopkins. By that time, he was over the hill.

That applies for most here though.

In terms of the calibre of opposition: Trinidad
In terms of the situation he found himself in: Pavlik

I've seen most of his major fights, including the other three in this poll. I stand by my opinion.
