I contend that Gerald "G-MAN" McClellan was injured by N. Benn's headbutt in round 9.

    Fellas,

Nobody can or will deny the fact that regardless of the tragic outcome stemming from the 1995 epic 168 lb. middleweight championship bout between Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan over in England, that "G-Man" was doing rather well until he was accidently butted by Benn in round 9. Once the butt occurred, Gerald McClellan's game went straight to hell... I truly believe the accidental butt caused the blood clot in "G-Man's" head and rendered him useless... Benn does deserve the win for his heart and soul, but England was lame in assisting McClellan after he was obviously not right upon the end of the fight / night in round 10... Yeah, the doc's came in, but they appeared to down-play the injury instead of clearly seeing that he was hurt / screwed.... Christ, McClellan had to basically lay down on the canvas in order to get a serious reaction....
    :shock::deal
    C'mon back and debate....:bbb

Gerald McClellan lost the fight when he decided to fight in England where low blows, rabbit punches and body slams are deemed legal boxing moves.

Every fight should watch that fight before they make the decision to fight there.

One day, technology may get to the point where recorded fights can watch other fights.

Gerald was almost certainly hurt rounds before that. The book is pretty much closed on that one.

He was ****ed well before then. Infact i'm pretty sure he sustained some sort of injury in an earlier fight.

    You're a dickhead.

I always put more of the blame to the heaps of blatant HARD rabbit punches to the brain stem.

But that headbutt was hellacious and you may well be correct.

G Man had well documented weight problems. This injury as sad as it is,was caused by a shrinking of the skull lining, which can be attributed to dehydration.

Supposedly additional damage was done to the G-man due to him transported via plane back to the US before having his situation becoming more stable. Something about the change in pressure during the flight caused additional damage.

Anyone have additional info on this?

    McGrain,

You can do better than that, amigo........ I say McClellan was fine, yet tired, when Benn either slipped or tripped into G-Man's head in round 9...

    I don't know.

McClellan was getting hit with a lot of clean HARD punches throughout the fight.

I think the headbut was sort of a straw that broke the camel's back sort of thing.

It's been a while since I've seen that fight. Maybe I'll watch it again tonight...

I just did the review earlier today.... G-Man's game went to hell after the 9th round butt...... Yes, his stamina is in question.... HELL! G-Man was accustomed to kayoing dude's early, but his head seemed clear until the butt....
