Wladimir Klischko (35) vs David Haye (30) for the IBF/IBO/WBA Super/WBO/Ring Heavyweight Championship

A lot of belts on the line here in this long awaited (overdue) unification bout.
Wlad brings his IBF/IBO/WBO and Ring belts, and Haye brings the WBA (wich is instantly upgraded to "Super") belt with him. But it isn't for the undisputed title, with Vitali's (WBC) still there.
Maybe some of the smaller sanctioning bodies (WBF, IBA etc) puts in one of their vacant belts trying to make themselves more legitimate, you never know.

    On to the fight itself.

Like many here know, I like Wlad and I dislike Haye and I'm obviously picking Wlad to win this. And it might be hard to look at this at an objective view (because it isn't).
I will be there (leaving for Germany on a friday) and hope and expect for a massive KO win from Wlad.

Here's my lowdown on the bout.

Haye's only chance in this is to TKO (not KO) Wlad and his biggest window is in the first 3 rounds of the fight, before Wladimir is settled and starts pounding Haye mercilessly with his jab.
In my opinion he has to fight in his own style (on the backfoot, cirlcling) but with a lot more spurts and much, much higher punchoutput (3x) as usual.
If he catches Wlad with a big one, don't go running in like a fool and start mauling away like he's used to, but settle down, look for an opening and pick his punches.
When he is able to take Wlad down and keep him in trouble he should then unload to try and force the stoppage.
If the fight goes on, and both are stil standing in the later rounds Haye should look for the money shot ever so often, cause there's no way he's going to outpoint Wlad.
Doing a Tyson impersonation or trying Sanders'or Brewster's method will most likely end face down on the canvas because Haye doesn't have the tools and certainly not the chin for that.

Wladimir has a lot more methods to beat Haye.
If he uses his usual jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, oops right hand, jab, jab, jab routine he will eventually wear Haye down like all his current opponents and KO him late, or take no chances at all and outpoint him by a landslide.
    But there are a couple of wildcards and attention points here;
    - First of all are the first couple of rounds, in wich Haye actually can be predictably unpredictable.
Chances are Haye will look for the early KO and Wlad would be smart if he commits to countering Haye full force. He will win the rounds anyway, so no problem if he gets in a few less jabs.
This will be a) A lot safer and b) There's a real chance he catches Haye with something big himself, ending the fight early.
    - Second there's the chin issue... Both have bad chins, but Haye's looks even worse. Haye (like his fans and the Britsh press) like to make fun of Wladimir's chin and the fact he's been down 11 times already.
But let's look beyond that for a minute. Wlad has been down 11 times in 58 fights = 0.19 times a fight, Haye has been down 5 times in 26 fights = 0.19 times a fight! Hey wait... that can't be right, can it?
And then we have to consider Haye's significantly worse opposition, and the fact that he fought as a cruiser most of his career and hasn't fought many real punchers yet.
So there is quite a chance he can't cope with Wladimir's punches at all and will go down at the first good punch Wlad connects with. Or with Wlad pulls out one of his sudden left hooks and it's bye bye Kansas.

Another way for Wlad to win the fight is beïng more agressive as usual and adopt his brothers massive punchoutput style, clubbing with his right until Haye buckles.
This of course is a lot more dangerous, but much more exciting way to try and win the fight. A counter "Hayemaker" and he in serious trouble.

Last (and most exciting) method, is Wlad going back to his old style of "seek and destroy" trying to take out Haye early.
Don't think he will, because although he will probably succeed against a smaller chinny Heavyweight like Haye, this gives Haye a real oppertunity to pull the upset.
Unlike his brother he doesn't have a granite chin to fall back on if things go south, and this method has a big chance to work but might turn into a nightmare just as well.

    Conclusions:

Haye will try to fight Wlad using his power, speed and lateral movement. Trying to avoid Wlad's jab and land a counter money shot.
Wlad will try to outbox Haye from behind his jab, using his tight defence and height/reach advantage stopping Haye late.

I expect the difference here will be Wlad's superior defence and punchoutput and win KO6/7

And noooowwwww, the main event of the evening! 12 rounds of Heavyweight boxing for your entertainment. Dr. Steelhammer Klitschko and the Hayemaker David Haye are finally going at it, a bit overdue, but I think this fight got the perfect amount of seasoning and marinade. Haye a couple of years ago wasn't as big as he is now, and Klitschko, well, is still Klitschko. Ruler of the Heavyweight division along with his brother, Vitali. Speaking of Vitali, it's a bit of a shame that Haye isn't going after Vitali first, because I think Haye dominates Vitali Klitschko. I think Vitali is tailor made for somebody like Haye. I think Haye's speed absolutely befuddles and makes Vitali look baaad....but that doesn't matter, at the moment, because Haye isn't fighting Vitali. He is fighting Wlad, and Wlad has good boxing ability, that nice long stiff jab, and big power with that jab, sneaky left hook, and of course the Steelhammer right hand. Now, Haye has the style to dominate the Klitschko's. If history has told us anything the speed style dominates the European standup 1-2. Some recent example of this is Joe Calzaghe-Mikkel Kessler, Andre Ward-Mikkel Kessler, Gavin Rees-Andy Murray, Sergio Martinez-Sergiy Dzinziruk, etc. Haye definitely has the style to beat Wladimir, but I question his chin and his desire to really win. If Haye had heart, chin, swagger, desire of a Carl Froch I would pick in David Haye in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, he doesn't. Him wanting to retire in October are red flags and a major question of desire, and heart I'm talking about. Haye has the tools I just don't know if he can apply them. So, I've gotta go with Wlad by KO. Wladimir is just a top notch boxer, great power, he has a shaky chin, but he gets up when knocked down and Haye hasn't possed brutal one punch KYTFO at Heavyweight. Also, Klitschko has underrated footwork. Most people are surprised by how quick he is, especially, for a big man. So, all in all I've got Klitschko stopping Haye. Just a quick note I like all the hype this fight is getting, it's good for boxing, but, at the same time I just have this feeling that it will stink out the joint and all this momentum quickly grinds to a screeching stop. Hopefully, I'm wrong and this fight has good action throughout, high drama, and a great conclusion in somebody knocking somebody out.

Wladimir Klitschko V David Haye - Prediction Wladimir Klitschko TKO11

Well, the biggest heavyweight clash since Lennox Lewis destroyed a well past it Mike Tyson is upon us. The difference being with this fight is that you both men are at/or a close to their peak when going head to head.

Since a few blips in his record, Wlad has been dominant in the division since 2004 and has barely lost a round for several years now. Having, alongside his brother cleaned out the heavyweight division the thirst for the David Haye clash as the most meaningful fight has lingered since 2008 and boy have they milked it.

David Haye has more to prove in this fight, his heavyweight resume to date is nothing impressive, his best win the division a cautious mixed decision win over giant Nikolay Valuez. That being said, Haye has a lot of attributes that could cause trouble for Wlad. He is very fast, especially in a division that is currently stacked with overweight plodders, he packs power in his punches and is mobile enough to use the ring to his advantage, rather than walk straight into the jab.

I see Haye's best chance of victory is to stay on the move and picking his spots to catch Wlad with vicious flurries breaking him down and then looking for the big winning shots in mid-late rounds.

Wlad will do what he always does, box behind a solid jab, follow up with big straight rights, lean on his opponent, break him down and look for a late KO/TKO. He's done this for years so I don't expect him to change his style because he's fighting David Haye.

History also tells us that either man come out swinging and look for an early KO. Both have suspect chins and it could easily happen but I can't see either boxer taking the risk of getting caught themselves in applying this tactic.

I suspect that Haye will try to use the tactic above but I gotta feeling that as soon as he feels Wlad's power that he will be less willing to go on the attack and will try to potshot his way to victory.

Considering this Im going for Wlad to break him down and TKO him in the late rounds or decision him in the same way most of his fights have gone.

Did anybody think, all those moons ago that I would go from a featherfisted punk to an 18 kayo veteran? Thanks for that tip, Uncle Roger. I'll never forget you.

So, I have 945 on the table, there are a lot of Caballero backers. Come one come all, I have Barros. If anybody wants a chunk of it, step up to the plate and let's make a bet. :good :smoke

So can't wait for this fight!! Proper psyched for it!

Now i'm currently watching prison break series 1 finale (gotta love the holidays that come with my job :)) once that's done i'm gonna do a prelim p4p list.

It should be the final list without money, h2h or featured fight stats.

I recently jazzed up my computer meaning everything is being done on there now and not my laptop so i'll have to start from scratch meaning it could take a while, but once it's done once, it's done.

    Gist...

Whoa could it be that we are no longer than a couple of days away from the second biggest fight that can be made today? The biggest HEAVYWEIGHT fight boxing has seen since... Tyson/Holyfield I?! However unlike Tyson/Holyfield these two fighters does not present the styles that makes for an exciting fight. Fans have been complaining about Wladimir's jab jab grab style, and Haye stood silent for 2½ rounds with A-Force. HOWEVER. Dispite their styles, I still believe it'll make for an exciting fight. Much like Groves/DeGale it'll be a fight where they'll be trying to out-technique eachother. I believe it'll be an intense fight with few punches thrown. I also believe that at one point a solid punch will have to land. I think that could be around round 5. That shot will produce a knock out.

With Tackle also going for Wlad, the number of Haye backers are surprisingly less as you would expect on this forum. :blood
