Atlas shoves Foreman ...

Definitely knows his boxing. His analysis can shine through on things most fans don't pick up. Moorer afraid of Atlas is a little humorous considering he was a pro fighter.

 

Sometimes these trainers form bonds with fighters and its more of a respect thing. They are afraid to let them down, not physically scared of them and Atlas and Moorer had a good relationship that way.

 

What I've noticed is that even in a rought sport like boxing, when people are rough around the edges and don't sugar coat what they say, or don't shy away from controversy, they are seen as bad people, no matter how much good they do.

This is shown clearly by Teddy Atlas. Teddy says what he believes, he is straight forward, and is not afraid to call BS when he sees it. He does an enormous amount of charity work and more than once has confronted corruption.

Such actions by Teddy are over shadowed though because he is bad at picking winners in fights and has a bad temper. It's sad, really.

 

Well Bill a lot of people dispute a lot of the stuff he says. From the incident with Tyson to the one with Lalonde, so Atlas is a bit full of crapola too.

 

I believe what Atlas says about those occurances. He himslef said he was out of line with the LaLonde incident.

 

Atlas himself as a manager has always liked to put his fighters against badly overmatched opponents except in the case of a big payday. It makes him seem rather hypocritical in my eyes.

Atlas constantly insults & belittles the competition of Tyson, then feeds Povetkin crapola opponents, despite his win over Chambers proving he can handle decent competition...

 

Are you referring the Bernard Hopkins-Keith Holmes fight? I swear I remember Foreman saying something like that near the end of the fight.

Never afraid of anyone?

He threatened young Tyson with a gun. If he wasn't scared, why didn't he act like a man and use his fists?

He took a gun to Donny Lalonde's apartment with intent to shoot him. Again, if he's unafraid, why didn't he just go over there to beat him up?

Teddy is, indeed, a true lunatic. He's been fired by fighter after fighter because he's impossible to work with.

Don't forget, he's the guy who came into the ring and sat on Moorer's stool, the guy who used the cell phone as a prop in the corner. Teddy craves attention. That's what this was all about.

That young Mike Tyson was not a normal person of his age. He may have only been 15 or 16, but he was stronger than most people in their 20s and 30s.

Teddy might be unafraid, but he's not stupid either. He knows he wouldn't stand a chance in a fight against any pro fighter, no less fighters who were champions.

He's not craving attention when he does things that are out of the ordinary, when his fighter is not listening to him and blowing and important fight that he is fully capable of winning, he needs to go to extremes to get his fighter to do what he needs to do. He was spot on with his game plan and analysis of what Foreman was trying to do against Moorer, but once again, Michael didn't listen, and in that fight he got knocked out because of it.

 

Atlas is a piece of **** attention *****.

 

Yeah, I figured that's what you kind of meant. I get it, Moorer was kind of the type of fighter you would expect to fear letting himself or trainer down.
