The Ukrainian control freak continues to laugh it off and likes to make out he's not getting emotionally involved but I know it's all a facade. No man can withstand the kind of tricks I've been up to this week. The latest rabbit plucked from my hat occurred yesterday, as Wladimir and I conducted open work-outs at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Hamburg. It was a little set-up. We were surrounded by flash cars and pumped-up fans. I was due to step in the ring first, at around 1.30pm, and perhaps, to everybody's surprise, I was there and ready on time. Now, typically, open work-outs are a bit of a damp squib. Nothing really happens and no great revelations can be plucked from them. A boxer steps into the ring, shadow-boxes for a few minutes and then goes through a few half-hearted sequences on the pads. The onlookers like to think they are witnessing something ground-breaking and pivotal to the outcome of the upcoming fight but it all means nothing. We deliberately hold back and, by that time, don't need to be going all-out or revealing our best stuff. It's best to keep it bottled up for fight night. Anyway, despite our experience of these situations, Wladimir and his trainer, Emanuel Steward, were clearly eager to see what shape I was in and what sort of moves I'd come up with. Much to my surprise, the pair of them, along with big, bad brother Vitali and a heap of cronies, bowled up and sat down at ringside as I warmed up between the ropes. They were ready to cast their eye over the work of the future undisputed world heavyweight champion. I can't say I blame them. Myself and trainer Adam Booth agreed beforehand that we would do very little in the ring but the presence of enemies curtailed our desire to entertain even further. All in all, it went something like this. I taped and wrapped my hands for around 20 minutes, shadow-boxed for five minutes and then hit one punch pad. The sole punch - a left hand from my new southpaw stance - was greeted by applause and cheers from Team Hayemaker and, after taking the acclaim and performing a bow, I stepped out of the ring and left. A stunned Wladimir screamed at me to stick around and watch him work out but I already knew the game had been won. This week has all been about control. Wladimir has tried to keep me on a leash and I have done everything in my power to break free and stand my ground. This represents the calm before the storm and the battle before the war. As things stand right now, I feel right on course to win both the battle and the war.

Yeah, he's clutching at straws. He believes he's going to win this somehow with psychological warfare, he also believes he's some sort of pysch-war kingpin. Really, he's just another fighter facing a beating.
The feeling I get here is that he thinks he has less chances of winning if he DOES NOT play these mind games. Which is absolutely ridiculous IMO. Sanders didn't say a freaking word and bounced the "control freak" Wlad off the floor a couple of times and made it look easy. I don't understand how Haye believes he either has to play mind games or otherwise he is doomed to fail. Wlad has been beaten before, more than once, even without mind games.

It's been fun and entertaining to watch him go at Waldorf, but now it's almost time for the war. I hope it'll be worthy of all the hype and will be a fight to remember. Respect to both for making it happen, and hope they both make it safely into and out of the ring.
Agreed, some posters here make me laugh. So what if Sanders didn't do it. Sanders is not fighting tomorrow and neither are the posters here. Haye is and if he thinks it'll help him, then good for him.
I didn't say Haye doesn't genuinely believe it helps him! I believe he does. Just like a person suffering from paranoid delusions may genuinely believe the CIA is working on a plot to assassinate them.
What a piece of uneducated trash. How embarassing. I cannot wait to see him get starched. My only concern is that the towel is thrown in by Booth before i get to see him sparked. I cannot believe so many people are sucked in by the Haye hype machine. He isn't actually that good, just well managed.
I've been reading his articles everyday this week and they've just been plain garbage. He lives in his own little world.
These parts are at least, interesting. Firstly, it sounds almost as though Haye is really, really hoping his games have worked...and is slightly concerned that they may not have. It's entirely possible he's just not encountered a personality that isn't phased by game playing, especially one that's got a hugely experienced cornerman like Steward who's seen it pretty much all before. Number two, as I understand it Wladimir ALWAYS goes to his opponents public workouts. He certainly did with Chambers and Peter. And finally....Wladimir screamed at him??? Errrm no he didn't, he asked in a fairly quiet voice. Really, does David have to directly or exaggerate to enhance himself all the time?
