What is your favorite style of Boxing.

Obviously as the sport's evolved we've seen more fighters use a mixture of styles.

I suspect many in this thread will have there own names and thoughts on styles.

Explain why you like the style and what fighters you like and maybe show some video.

Personally i'm a fan of: Aggressive Counter Punchers

I love the way the fighter can fight at all different ranges and look so relaxed in doing it. The skill and timing is amazing but also the bravery. It's a style that is only made for natural fighters who have the confidence and belief to carry it. You see many counter punchers especially European types look to land and get away but the aggressive ones can sit in the pocket and land two to three hard scoring blows and avoid any punches coming back in the trade.

Here's a clinic of what i mean, Long punches, short punches, uppercuts and hooks and straight shots. Amazing work..

Some of you may prefer: Brawlers, Box-Fighters, Pure Boxers etc

Well, before Jpab got banned, his answer would've been the kind of pure-boxer/counter-puncher type. The type of fighters in recent years like Ivan Calderon and Cristian Mijares, fighters who display a type of technical brilliance in the ring, and make up for the fact that they may be lacking in power with the ability to outsmart, out-think and outskill their opponent.

The type of fighters who have boring fights because they're that good there isn't any need to step up a gear. Fighters who aren't intentionally boring, their fights just transpire that way because of their superior capabilities. As opposed to fighters who are unentertaining because it's neccessary for them to get by. Great defensive skills do it for me, the kind of fighters who have a great variety to their defence, who can slip, evade, roll and block punches with equal class and ease.

In summary, Jpab's a boring ****er.

I love the mid range boxer-puncher type. Fighters like Felix Trinidad, Marvin Hagler, Alexis Arguello and Freddie Pendleton. For me, the boxer-puncher is the perfect blend of excitement and skill. It mixes an aggresive style with solid fundamentals, and almost always produces interesting and exciting fights. You can appreciate the skill of the fighter whilst at the same time marvelling at their power and finishing ability. It's the perfect concoction of skill oreinted vivacity, and never fails to intrigue or excite. You can't lose with the boxer-puncher.

The Ingle style, I'm ashamed to say.

That or Paulie's style, I ****ing love that.

Outside of that, Thomas Hearns or Miguel Cotto.

Modern day fighters I would say Khan is almost guaranteed excitement for me. I always want him to win, he throws lots of fast combinations and he can't take a shot the best which basically means I'm constantly on the edge of my seat watching him.

I love watching Floyd box. It's hardly rocket science to come up with that as he's one of the best boxers of his generation but I'd watch Floyd over Manny all day. Sure, we do all like a tear up but I love to watch a defensive master at work. Hatton had his style but for me I can't stand the come forward brawler, it appears to lack finesse and skill whereas Floyd's shoulder rolls and evasive skills are something to behold.

All the more reason he infuriates me by not fighting more often. The ****.
