oh I see, and here was me thinking that Wlad would use his height advantage to extend his left hand going into the clinch and use his forearm to push Haye's head down and put his full weight on him, thus negating his opponent's offence.

 

If the uppercut was to benefit anyone in this fight is would be the taller, rangier fighter (Wlad) who is trying to the small fighter who tends to crouch (Haye). Not the other way around/

I remember that Eddie Chambers focused really bad on the uppercut.... tried it against 6'6" Alexander Dimitrenko with great success... against Wlad, not so much. It's the footwork that makes the difference.

 

Wlad is gonna hit Haye so hard, he'll make Haye cum.

 

Wlad needs a friendly referee, who will allow limited clinching as you describe but no real fighting in close. If you tried that sort of thing that Lewis/Wlad do against someone who was allowed to actually do something int he clinch youd be thrown around like a doll the way jeremy WIlliams did to Lennox in sparring.
