It has to be at the back of your mind that Ike was always headed for a breakdown, and that would have limited how far he could have gone in the division.

Byrd's opinion here is ultimately kinda self-serving IMO.

Ike was a better fighter than Mercer and I believe he had legitimate chance of beating Lennox Lewis in 2000. He had a stellar chin, good power, good work rate, endurance and he was well built.

Byrd may very well have an agenda but a Lewis win isn't a slam dunk.

Agreed but I think that if given the chance Ike would have been the next great Champ after Lennox Lewis. I think he would have dominated in Tysonesque fashion for a short period of time before falling off the wagon and handing the reign over to Wlad.

It is...but this scenario has been floated around before.

I personally think Ike would have a tougher time with Lewis than he would with Wlad or Vitaly.

    I agree. :good

Byrd is strange for believing the slight extra height of the Klits makes them tougher for Ibeabuchi. Clearly Lewis a better fighter who handles pressure better than both Klits. Wlad hates being put under pressure where he can't control the pace himself. Besides, "Oceans 11" showns Wlad can't be more than a half inch taller than Lewis...
