How does Haye have to appoach the Klitschko fight, does he start slowly, or fast?

I was Hannover for the Sanders fight.
I thought Sanders was running, but when he did come foreward it was smoothly, and when Wlad through that lazy stop jab....it was the beautiful side step that put him in position to send Wlad flying.

Wlad said after wards he was arrogant, and learned not to be.

I don't expect any lazy stop jabs, and seeing how Haye keeps saying he's going to fight left handed. Side steps will be in Wlad's thought.

Iberhof(sp) leaning over backwards...was effecient at staying alive.
Of course Haye would think about coming off of that to do some dammage.



I'm sure Wlad threw an upper cut a time or two.
He does have a classic long hook.

Bob, weave and duck his way in, would be something for Haye...the Patterson spring...Tyson also did that; wih out the jump. But I doubt if he will do that...in that would be something he'd had to be working on a long time.


Is 'super' fast, going to match very fast with both span and height in total reach. I don't think so.
I expect Haye to fight low to try and take some power off the jab. When he's not running around the ring.

I think he's going to throw a haymaker and get caught.
A hay maker is the slowest of all punches.

 

He's got to be aggressive, for all the talk of Wlado making it seem like he's gonna go for the KO, I'm willing to bet he operates as he always does, so Haye would benefit from aggression early, with a lot of head movement. He has to get past the jab without it landing flush continually or Wlad will just do what he always does. That being said, my prediction is Wlad does what he always does, only he ends it in the 6th.

 

People are expecting WAYYY too much from this fight. It's going to be another Ibragimov. Wlad is far bigger, stronger, and arguably more athletic than Haye is, yet he's not going to open up or pursue Haye to get him out of there. He's going to be tentative and "safe" instead of imposing his will on the little overmatched opponent. Let's face it, David Haye would be a complete idiot to engage Wlad on Wlad's terms by trying to get in with wild aggression.

Haye and Wlad will BOTH wait for the other to open up. Both will be looking for openings in the other's defense. Both will be on the outside. It's going to be a boring, uneventful fight if Wlad doesn't go out there and act like the bigger, better, heavyweight champion that he is. People should expect Wlad to make something happen in this fight. He needs to be held accountable if Haye lasts the full 12.

Good boxing strategy discussion here, guys. But I will feel bad if everyone here ends up disappointed on Saturday.

 

He should be unpredictable, deliver some of both and keep Wladimir confused. With his speed he CAN keep Wladimir overcautious and confused.

 

Haye has to be looking for an opening from the 1st bell. If he waits too long Wlad will jab his head off his shoulders like he has done to nearly everyone else.

In the end, I think that this characteristic about Haye plays right into Wlad's hands. That mentality, which we both suspect Haye tries to control within himself, essentially means that all Wlad has to do is sit back and prod with the Jab while waiting for Haye to give him that opening for the big shot.

I think the Klitschko camp is banking on Haye's defense letting him down in this fight. They're banking on Haye getting caught while trying to mount some offense on the much bigger man. If Haye and Booth aren't smart enough to know this too, and adjust their plans accordingly, then they may as well go for the early bumrush strategy. The bumrush strategy leads to Haye being KO'ed inside 3. Booth is no ATG trainer right now, but he is no idiot. Bumrush is not their plan.

David Haye saw how tentative Wlad was with Ibragimov. Wlad didn't want to risk being countered, especially from the southpaw stance, by a guy with some decent handspeed. Most of Wlad's opponents are slow. I think Haye probably knows that unless Wlad comes after him with purpose, that HE will be the one engaging on his terms. David is going to have to have more than one strategy prepared in order to win this. He may have to make adjustments in there at critical moments.

Well, screw it. In summation, yeah..I think Haye will go for broke if he believes he's behind. If Wlad gets an early lead in this fight, he can expect to get many opportunities to close it out as a result of Haye's recklessness.

 

hayes speed and footwork is way to much for wlad.once he susses out wlad in the opening mins of the fight i expect haye to start attacking and landing on wlad.and when he does we all know wlads has the fighting spirit of a new born penguin he will fold and well have a british number 1 champion..i cant wait i swera havnt looked forward to something like this since my gf first showed me her kncokers...o yea i said it

 

He should treat it like a 6 round fight. By the time it goes 8 rounds, logically you can assume that Wlad has busted Haye up with the jab. So his best chance is to rush him early, and hope that he takes his chances. Ultimately he needs to finish Wlad, before he recovers. Because i have a feeling, it's going to take more than one KD, to stop Klitschko.....

 

You are right on the money here.

 

If I were in his position I'd start off by making Waldo come to me. I'd circle away from his right and force him to try and find me with the jab. I'd keep circling him and throwing my jab straight under his jab to his ribcage then immediately tie him up if he turns too fast.

If he doesn't turn fast enough I'd turn the right over in a hook to the ribcage. And just keep turning him all night and grabbing when in his view.

 

Wladimir Klitschko like Lennox Lewis is largely a momentum fighter that given his size, stellar jab and attributes serve as a difficult task for anybody when they get in rhythm. I've always felt one the main things that separates Wlad from Lennox is that Wlad doesn't really improvise all too well and in order to stay competitive with him you need to pressure him early and often. As long as you take him out of his game plan early he becomes a very beatable fighter especially since his chin has let him down in the past.

Nobody has been able to challenge him effectively since the first fight with Peter where he was dropped 3 times.

Haye has to come out fast and has to land early. If he doesn't, he'll find himself on the end of a demoralizing and punishing left jab before being put to sleep by a mammoth of a right hand (if necessary). He has to maintain a much busier work rate because Wladimir has trained to use movement specifically to avoid a "puncher's chance" scenario. Haye has an uphill battle that can be overcome if he's willing to take some risk.

 

Haye should run!!
